Course Curriculum

8

  • The difficulty of the course was medium to high based on different modules that we would study, the classroom had limited students making it more focused and easy to have one on one interaction with the professors.
  • The number of students in my cohort was 23 students. Mostly the group consisted of asian students and a couple of white students. We would have like 3 days of face to face lectures and 1/2 days of online webinars.

Admission Experience

  • Shortlisted at University of Leicester and Nottingham Trent University. But chose to go ahead with NTU because of the syllabus and also the campus and city’s nightlife, which is always bustling and happening, compared to Leicester which is a smaller town compared to Nottingham. I also had an offer from Middlesex university but didn’t choose it because of the high living cost in the city of London
  • I chose Nottingham Trent University because of its world-class rankings in the UK for employability, that also provides a strong focus on career focused courses and work placements, to ensure graduates are well prepared for the job market, and not to forget about the modern state of art facilities that provide a hands-on learning experience. Lastly, for the vibrant student life that completely enhances the overall student learning experience
  • I had applied for the Jan intake initially but I couldn’t make my visa application in time and had to postpone it to the next intake which was September in my case. Transferring to the next intake is not very difficult with just one email sent to the admin team. I was able to smoothly move my admission to the next intake in September. The overall admission process took not more than 90 days

Faculty

8

  • I’m not quite sure about the ratio but I would like to believe it was somewhat around 1: 3, which made it more approachable to reach the faculty to get any doubts solved.
  • Some of the faculty members were also associated with the employability hub to help students in their job hunt. The faculty members that i admire the most are the senior staff members and few expats staff, purely for the extensive knowledge and exposure they would bring into the classroom

Campus Life

8

  • My Uni in Particular had 2 campuses, one being the city campus and the other one being the Clifton campus.
  • City campus was my favorite because of it being located right in the heart of the city but infrastructure wise i felt the clifton campus was no less.
  • The city campus had a student union for sports and facilities and it was very well built up, providing students a space to practice, learn and grow on their skills

Part Time Jobs

  • To be honest, not many are able to secure TA, RA or DA positions. The ratio would be around 2-4% of the cohort, alternatively students are able to get a student ambassador role that allows them
  • To work upto 12-15 hours a week, that too when there is an open day at university or usually it’s difficult to get shifts because of less events and too many students waiting to get work. It’s difficult getting a job but certainly not impossible. Max hours per week- 19/20 hours
  • Most students earn on hourly basis by working at different restaurants, warehouses, as security personnel and doing food deliveries for companies like uber eats etc. there are online recruitment vendors that helps students to work at sports and cultural events as well, simultaneously online portals also have job postings and part time job roles to work as a server, kitchen assistant or as a production operative.

Placement

6

  • The percentage of students that are able to get full time job upon graduating is very low as the UK job market is highly competitive and full of professionals. So in order to stand out you need to have a culmination of academic background, work experience along with soft skills being on point.
  • Also the campus you study at may have placement opportunities but getting a placement needs you to be very active and on the go, clearing assessments and cracking the interview. Since I didn’t opt for the placement year i never had the choice to opt for placement

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I chose an off campus student accommodation because of the pricing mostly, and also the facilities the student accommodation had, it was quite easily reachable from the University and vice versa making it an accessible accommodation and quite close to the city and my uni campus.
  • The pricing of the on campus accommodation was slightly over priced compared to what I would pay staying at an off campus accommodation. Giving me a hand of both uni life and life outside uni.

Exams

  • In my case i didn’t have to take any exams
  • To secure an admission in the course. I was thoroughly assessed on the basis on my previous academia and i did not have to give an IELTS exam because i had done my entire schooling in English language and had scored good marks in English, which always made it an exception in my case. I also had to give an interview after receiving a conditional offer letter to confirm my admission in the course

Fees

  • My course fee was £15000, but i had also received a scholarship of £3000 so had to pay only £12000 as tuition in two installments and overall living expenditure for the entire academic year added to another £12000 which was paid by family.
  • I would also work part time to pay for my everyday expenses like food/ groceries, travel, going out over the weekend and other miscellaneous expenses

Scholarship

  • Yes there are and i was fortunate enough to receive one. My overall tuition was £15000 and i received a scholarship for £3000 so i had to pay only £12000 as my tuition, out of which i had paid £6000 as the first installment during the start of my course and later at the start of the final term, I had to pay the balance of £6000 to the university.
  • Getting scholarships is not very difficult if you write a good and focused essay on why do you need the scholarship and how does it make your life easy when choosing to study at NTU
