Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

Presently it is the only college under calicut university and must be liberal. During my studies, 2009 scheme, there were 4 modules on each subject, with a total of approx 53 papers in 4 years. It has cgpa system of marks. The syllabus covers the bulk of core engineering, but very little on present day technologies. Examinations are semester wise from 3 rd semester to 8th ( 1&2 combined in first year). There are 5 elective papers put together in last 3 semesters, one mini project, 1 seminar and a main project which has maximum credits. The exam and evaluation are moderate, with a good chance for pass. Supplementary and improvement examinations are conducted along with the regular exam of next batch. However last year there is a mercy chance.

Placement Experience

0.5

Another area where the college management has to do herculean effort to come forward. It provide neither assistance nor opportunities for both internship and placement. ( except for printing technology branch)

College Events

1.5

Diksha- the cultural fest organised as i heard from super seniors, was never conducted during our days. Blaze- college arts fest is annualy conducted. It is a bliss. Sports meet is also conducted for namesake. Union elections- another typical gimmick of kerala govt colleges.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I got admission on merit, still had annual fee of 22000 ,which was fully covered by a scholarship. It depends on government policies and management rules. It is affordable for middle class and one should find suitable scholarship to assist.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have availed prime minister scholarship for wards of ex servicemen. It covered whole tuition and examination fee for the course. Seniors are very helpful in identifying and guiding freshers to apply for various central and state scholarships.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostel facilities are available for first year students at rs 500 per month. Nearby also good accomodation facilities and hotels are available at cheap rates. College hostel is two sharing furnished rooms.

Admission

Keam entrance exam 2011, i had a rank of 8170, 2nd allotment i got electrical engineering in same college, later i got admission for mechanical in third allotment. Paid the fees and secured admission on the day of orientation conducted by the college.

Faculty

1

It is one of the weakest side of the college. Term contract ,fresh academecians with meagre knowledge and experience could do no justice to students. Right from the top management, commitment to the needs of the institute is not a priority.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
