Remarks
Overall IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a very good college for a student to carry out is education. It selects B. Tech. candidates through JEE advance exam, M. Tech. Students through GATE exam and even selects PHD scholars through interview. So mostly bright students come to this college due to which studying environment is very good. It has good labs with proper equipment's, facilities for extra co curricular activities, good faculties and good placements making it a college that many students desire.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course is good. In first year, there are regular classes and exams like any other graduation course, while second/final year individual project is to be done. In final year, each student is put under guidance of a professor for carrying out his/her project.
Placement Experience
Placements are good. During, my time many companies visited college like L&T constructions, Maruti Suzuki, KPIT, Infosys etc. Even various coaching institutes also visited like Akash institute etc. I got selected in L&T constructions.
College Events
Many events are organized in our college during an entire year consisting of various sports events like badminton competition, racing events, high jump, long jump, javelin throw etc. Apart from sports, various fashion events and fests are also organized having presence of various celebrities.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As of my knowledge, fees is more for B. Tech candidates of general category reaching up to 1,00,000/- per year and hostel charges extra if taken. For category students, fees is low. For MTech. candidates, fees is not so high.
Fees and Financial Aid
For any other course apart from M. Tech., I don't know about scholarship facility. For candidates pursuing M. Tech., students get stipend of Rs. 12,500/- per month. It was in my time, may be increased now.
Campus Life
Regarding extracurricular activities, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad provides a very good platform for students to carry out their interests. There is a separate building known as Student Activity Centre (SAC). It includes various facilities like gym, badminton court, boxing ring, music room etc. Labs are also good and have proper equipment's.
Alumni/Alumna
My seniors were very helpful. During our labs in first year, they also used to be present in the labs, as final/second year students have projects to carry out. At that time they guided us in selecting professor for our projects which is a major decision as your whole second year is based on that. Apart from this, they also gave information about the recruitment process of various companies which come to college.
Admission
For pursuing M. Tech., a person need to qualify GATE exam in his/her respective field. On successfully qualifying the exam, merit list is made. On the basis of his/her score, he/she is selected. In some IITs interview is also there for pursuing M. Tech.
Faculty
Faculties are good. Apart from being teaching the curriculum course, they also guide students to look for the opportunities after the completion of course. In my case, my professor helped me a lot in completing my project and I even published one research paper on that.
