Remarks

Good infrastructure and silent and good surrounding makes our college good from study point of view. But no placements and only 50% reservation for rangers is a setback. Our college has a good record of students qualifying for OAS and different bank jobs too.

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

4 year degree course. 8 semesters. We have papers on Natural Resourse Management (NRM), Forest biology and Tree improvement (FBT), Wildlife science (WLS), Silviculture and Agroforestry (SAF). You can be well prepared for IFoS and state forestry services.

Placement Experience

0.5

No private company placements. The degree of B.Sc (forestry) gives you 50% reservation for the job of Forest Range Officers. But the syllabus is such that you can prepare yourself better for IFoS and state forestry services. No idea about internship and stipend.

College Events

2.5

A 2 day picnic within 150km radius. 3 days Annual function by dramatic union of the college. 2 days of events and the last day of prize distribution and melody night. 2 days Annual athletic meet by the athletic union of the college. And all other government observation days are celebrated.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Out of 50 seats in total,50% are general seat and the rest 50% is cost sharing (Each category separately have reserved seats for SC/ST/PH/GCH students) For general category. Have to pay 52000/- (as of year 2019) during admission. Rest 7 semesters will cost around 10000/- each. For cost sharing category. Have to pay 55000/- extra to the admission fees during admission and during each odd semesters ie 107000 during admission 10000 for 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th semesters 65000 for 3rd, 5th, 7th semesters. So, feasible if you got admission in general category seat.

Fees and Financial Aid

A scholarship of 10000 per yr is given to top 10% students of an academic yr by OUAT. ICAR may give scholarship of 500/- per month to 5% students of an academic yr. No loan facility by college or university. Different banks may approve loans.

Campus Life

3

As I have mentioned earlier, 2day athletic meet and 2 day annual function is organised in the college. Besides, university level competition are also held. Some students of our college have already represented OUAT in the national level in ICAR annual meets. We have labs at proper working condition. In the recent cyclone FANI that affected bhubaneswar our most chamber is broken. Rest is in good working condition.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel infrastructure is a kind of "not bad". For boys, In 1st year you have to share your room with at least 5 of your classmates. However, from 2nd year onwards 3 students per room is allotted. For girls, In 1st yr hardly any student gets proper room. They are accommodated in dormy. By 2nd year or end of 1st yr rooms are allotted with 3 students in each room. Hostel expenditure is roughly 25000 per year for both boys and girls which includes living and 2 times meal per day.

Alumni/Alumna

No alumni network in college due to a ragging case that was filed against seniors in the year 2015. However, the current seniors are trying for building again the alumni network. For senior students, quite helpful from the view point of helping in exams and all.

Admission

An entrance exam is conducted by the university OUAT,Odisha. The entrance consists of 200 questions. Subjects : Physics, Chemistry, Mental ability, Bio/Maths (you can choose one). Each subject contributes 50marks. All questions are MCQs. No negative marking. Exam duration - 2hrs. The total mark is calculated as 25% of your 10th mark plus 25% of your 12th mark plus 50% of the % of marks you scored in the entrance. I secured 106/200 in the entrance and my total weightage (ie calculating 10th and 12th marks) was 71.87. My rank was 1304. General counselling process follows for admission after you get the rank card.

Faculty

3

Faculty are cooperative and highly qualified. Classes are regular. Strict attendance of 85% is required. SAF and NRM departments are the best in our college. Some faculties are appointed from different colleges of the same university to maintain the study standards.
