Likes
- IGNOU let you study while working and preparing for other exams or handling family responsibilities
- fees are low and transparent, no hidden charges, no donation nonsense.
- the degree from IGNOU is accepted by UPSC, SSC and most universities for higher studies.
Dislikes
- there is no real life college, no regular events
- some teacher are knowledgeable but mentorship is minimal
- there is no structured placement drive, no serious industry tie-ups
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is aligned with UGC guidelines which matters for degree recognition and eligibility for higher studies. Theoritical foundation is solid, helps in feveloping analytical skills but very limited practical exposure. areas to improve is update outdated topics to reflect current industry trends, more interactive contact classes instead of one-way lectures. Exams are held twice a year with gaps between exams in morning and evening shift. the level of exam is moderate, not easy.
Internships Opportunities
There is no sturcutured or guaranteed internship program provided by IGNOU for most UG and PG courses. It does not officially place students into internships with named companies. Academic projects only as a part of curriculum like final year project, case studies.
Placement Experience
There is no real campus placement system in IGNOU for most UG and PG courses. No regulaar companies visit the campus. no official list of recruiters, or roles. Only few job fairs or career webinars There is no publish verified placement statistics and placement percentage is not available. my plans after getting degree is prepare for higher studies and job roles alongside
Fees and Financial Aid
* fees for BCA programme is 16000 per year and 8000(per semester) and without books you can pay 6775 per semester. * examination fees is 200 per subject. * fees for complete course is 48000. * the fees is same for all candidates. * and it is not increased yet. fees for practical exam is also 200 per subject.
Campus Life
campus life at IGNOU is minimal to almost non-existent for most students. it is open university nor a residential or full-time campus based college. No regular annual cultural or technical festivals. IGNOU libraries are academically strong but underutilized. Core textbooks related to IGNOU syllabus , reference books and some academic journals are available. Not all the students actively use the library. timing and location depend on the study centre. Classrooms are basica and functional, nothing modern or impressive, traditional classrooms. No structured sports culture, no regular inter-college tournaments. No active , students run club like drama, music, debating, etc, Social interaction is very minimal and transactional.
Admission
I applied only to this college because of its flexibility ( you can choose your exam centre anywhere in India), affordability and degree recognition, not because it was my dream college. I didn't applied to any other college. The eligibility for admission is based on minimun academic qualification like 10+2 for UG programs. Only some professional programs may have entrance exam but for general UG/PG none are needed. no competitive cut offs admission is fully online and transparent with minimal paperwork.
Faculty
faculty and student ratio is not good, only one faculty handles large number of student. faculties vary from study centre, what i like in good faculties is strong subject knowledge willingness to clear doubts during limited contact sessions. what i do not like in faculties is lack of interest because students are not regular. IGNOU conduct exam twice a year (June and Decmber), difficulty level is moderate, a significant number of students get backlog because of lack of regular study habits and poor answering skills. the course curriculum is highly theoritical and concept based
Night Life
Zero camous nightlife because it is not residential university. open only during official working hours ( roughly 9:30AM- 5:30PM) after that closed. can access library in daytime only, limited and basic cafeterias which closed by evening. no gym and hostels. there is no hangout places inside campus but students go to nearby Delhi hotspots. some loaclity are generally safe till late evening but IGNOU offers no security.
