What Students Say
Likes
- One thing I like about my college is the campus vibe. People are friendly and honestly everyone ends up finding their own group or partner-in-crime here pretty quickly.
- Faculty in my dept are decent. Some teachers teach really well and explain clearly and a few are so friendly that you can talk to them like seniors not strict lecturers.
- Infrastructure is good. Labs and classrooms are fine and the library is my favourite place to chill and study because it’s quiet and peaceful
Dislikes
- The only thing that bothers many of us is the fee increasing every year. Facilities are good but the sudden hike puts pressure on middle-class students
- Placements are good mainly for CSE/IT but top companies pick limited students and others end up with average offers or don’t qualify
- Some semesters get hectic with labs and assignments back-to-back so there will be no breathing space. Balancing studies and personal time becomes difficult sometimes
Course Curriculum Overview
Course syllabus is actually good and relevant to today’s tech stuff especially for CSE. Subjects like Python, DBMS, OS and AI make you feel like you are learning what companies really expect. It’s not outdated like some colleges, which is one of the reasons I chosen this course. Labs also help a lot in understanding instead of just reading theory which works for me because I learn better by doing. But not every subject feels useful some are there only because they are part of the university syllabus. Teaching could be more project based instead of only PPT sometimes. Exams happen a lot with MID-1, MID-2 and finals so if you study regularly it’s fine, but last-minute preparation becomes stressful. Overall the curriculum prepares you well for placements, but adding more real-time projects would make it even better.
Placement Experience
Placements in my college are pretty good especially for CSE and IT. Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester but training and coding practice usually start in 3rd year. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte, Capgemini, Amazon and a few startups visit every year. The highest package usually goes to a few top students and the average package for CSE is around 6–7 LPA. Most students who are serious about placements get placed and many get multiple offers so the placement percentage for CSE and IT branches is high. My plan after degree is to sit for placements and get into a good software company and then improve my skills further.
Fees and Financial Aid
I’m studying in MLRIT and fees are fine but they don’t stay the same every year which is a bit irritating for students. When I joined it was around 1.10 to 1.25 lakhs per year including tuition, lab fee, development and all that. For each semester exams we again need to pay around 1800 separately so that adds up too. Every new batch gets a small hike like 10k extra for the same course, so it keeps going up. Management quota students pay much more than regular students, some of my friends told me their fees were around 1.6 lakhs+ depending on the branch. Students from SC/ST who get govt reimbursement pay very less except admission charges. Scholarships like E-Pass and merit ones are there, but not everyone gets them so most middle-class families still feel the fees are a bit heavy.
Campus Life
Campus life in MLRIT is actually fun and active. There are cultural and tech events throughout the year so it never feels boring. When fests happen, the whole campus goes crazy with competitions, food stalls, shows and DJ nights — the vibe is totally different on those days and everyone joins in. Classrooms and labs are decent and the library is honestly my favourite place because it’s super quiet and has all the books we need. I also like that you meet new people there during group studies or last-minute revision panic. There are many clubs like dance, music, tech, photography etc., so it’s easy to find people with similar interests instead of just attending classes and going home. Sports facilities are good too like cricket, basketball, volleyball and a gym. So if you like being social and active, there is always something happening on campus. Overall campus life feels balanced for me like studies + friends + events + fun
Admission
I did apply to colleges like VNR and GRIET during counselling but based on my rank I only got a confirmed seat in MLRIT in the first round. So we visited the campus before even thinking about second counselling. After seeing the college, classrooms and labs me and my parents got a good feeling and the vibe was solid. Plus it’s not far from my home so travel is easy too. After that I didn’t even bother going for second round because we felt this college was the right fit for me. The admission process was through TS EAMCET counselling. You need to qualify the EAMCET exam and based on rank you get the seat. There are cutoffs for each branch and CSE usually has the highest cutoff. Once I got the allotment letter we just visited the college and finished admission formalities in the same week.
Faculty
Faculty–student ratio is fine in my college. Some teachers explain really well and I personally like my DBMS faculty Divya Priya ma’am because she teaches in a simple way and is approachable even after class. We also have an English sir who is super cool and makes the classes fun. There are also some teachers who rush through PPTs which makes classes a bit boring sometimes so overall it’s a mix of good and average faculty. Course structure for CSE is decent with useful subjects like Python, DBMS, OS and AI. Exams happen often (MID-1, MID-2 and finals) so if you study regularly it’s not very difficult, but last-minute studying becomes stressful. Marking is fair if you write to the point. Overall faculty is decent, not perfect, but manageable if you stay active in studies.
Night Life
Nightlife around MLRIT is mostly simple. The campus closes early so you can’t really hang out inside at night. Library, gym and canteen all shut by evening and hostel has fixed in-time so you have to return on time. So on regular days there’s nothing happening in college once classes are done But the only time the campus becomes active at night is during hackathons. Those nights are seriously the best because everyone stays awake coding, eating, talking, laughing and just having fun while working on projects. Those nights are honestly memorable Most students go to nearby food places after college hours because the area around the college is safe. Late food trips and chai breaks are common. It’s not a “party nightlife” kind of college, but it’s chill and fun if you just want to spend time with your friends
