What Students Say
Likes
- There are professors who’d help students in research programs.
- I like the 5 day work per week rule. Saturdays and sundays are holidays
- There are clubs to engage students in activities throughout the year. There are non profit socities too. The fests are really fun.
Dislikes
- I disliked the length of semester duration. Odd semesters are short.
- I disliked the hostel mess food. Needs more all india type of foods for people from all over country.
- I disliked that there are very few international students and exchange students. It can be more diverse.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course needs improvements. It has most skills it requires. But it needs diverse skills too. It needs more on communication part. Teaching methods are good. Frequency of exams is good enough to give us good practice for end terms. Exams are tackleable with good practice.
Internships Opportunities
JP morgan chase offers 1.5 lakh stiped. Many companies offer good stipends. Like microsoft qualcomm mathworks NVIDIA samsung. The companies give more priority to the project work. On campus and off campus placements do take place. Hackathons do happen regularly.
Placement Experience
In electronics 76 percent of students got placed last year. With average 17 LPA and Median 12 LPA. Companies like Microsoft ,NVIDIA, samsung and many other companies visit. Overall 70% students got placed and got internships.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the semester fees it is 62,500 per semester. But students whose annual income is below 1 lakh it is zero. For the students who have annual income between 1-5 lakhs , two thirds of the fee is waivered (they have to pay 20,834 approximately). For above 5 lakhs , there is no waiver. For the students of SC and ST categories it is zero.
Campus Life
There are many technical and cultural clubs. Almost 22. There's team avishkar with tech clubs involving in the tech fest AAROHAN. Which is east india's second largest tech fest. Sports are good. There's student activity center and a huge playground. There are non profit societies like NSS, BMEP( to educate poor young students) and departmental socities. Infrastructure is average with a good library. But the labs and workshops are quiet old
Hostel Facilities
In a room 3 beds ,3 tables, 3 chairs, 3 cupboards, 3 sockets, 2 lights, 2 fans and 3 table lamps are provided. Meal quality is average , menu is focused on balanced diet. Regestration process is online at the time of admission. But every odd semester , offline regestration takes place. It is affordable
Admission
Based on placement percentage and average median packages i chose this college. I didnt make it to colleges like nagpur or calicut in the same course due to cutoff ranks being too low. I got here through JEE Mains.
Faculty
Faculty to student is 1:18. It fell to 1:20 recently. Faculty are very much approachable for research purposes. I liked Dr. Hemanta kumar mondal. He teaches in the electronics department and has guided many students well in projects. Therw are good facilty like Dr. Firoz Ali, Dr. Sanjay Dhar Roy. , Dr. Nilanjan chattaraj. There are not many disliked profs. There is mid term(25 marks) and alternate mid term for students who missed the mid term due to appropriate reason.
Night Life
Hostel in time for 1st years is 6:00pm intially. But they gradually take off restrictions. For 2nd years it's 11:30 and gradually takes off. For third years and up there's not many restrictions. Theres a gym. Few cafeterias around the campus.hangout places like nescafe, huts, ovals are plenty. The entire campus is safe at night wit secuirty guards and came everywhere except for the dark part near the west gate
