My Experience with IIM Rohtak

IIM Rohtak is a new college which requires time to mature, yet it is doing very fine with the available resources. The students are the backbone of the college, they manage and organize many event coordinating with faculty members.

Entrance Examination: CAT Scored Percentile: 91.3 I opted for the college because it is near to NCR region. After applying through the college for FPM programme, I got a call for interview and after one round of personal interview with research proposal, I got a call from IIM Rohtak for the applied programme.

My area of specialization is IT and Systems. First year we studied the PGP course. From second year onwards we have to study our area of specialization subjects followed by Mini thesis submission and then start of our research work.

A total of 51 companies participated in the summer placement process conducted for the batch of 153 students.Our batch saw the institute strengthen its relationship with 36 past recruiters and established relationships with 15 new companies. Some of the prominent brands our students secured internships with were JP Morgan, American Express, ICICI Bank, SEBI, CRISIL, Aviva, Sapient, Wipro, TATA motors, JSPL, Actuate Business Consulting, McCann, Tetrapak, Dabur, Stryker, Hero, Michelin to name a few. The average stipend this year was INR 43914 while the maximum stipend was INR 1,50,000 for two months.

This year the placement is going on with good packages. For our seniors: In a batch of 152 students, 148 participated in the placement process and 4 opted out of the placement process. A total of 61 companies participated in the final placement process, where we strengthened our relationship with past recruiters and established many newones too.

For FPM programme there is no fee, we get stipend of 25000 per month for first 2 years and 30000 for next 2 years. However for Post Graduate Programme(PGP), the total fee is 1050000 for 2 years with additional refundable fees (28500 first year, 17000 for second year). For both the courses the mess charges are 9000 per term.

FPM scholars get fellowship of 25000 per month for first 2 years and 30000 per month for next 2 years.

The campus life good with many extra-curricular activities. One or more competitions goes on all the time like online quizzes, cricket matches, voice sessions etc. The gender ratio in our batch is 50-50. However, it reduced in our junior batch. There is committees that organize events. Parties are organized by cultural committee which includes celebration of regional festivals, freshers party, farewell party, Halloween party etc. The culture is really good in IIM rohtak with no bias against gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. People here are too busy here organizing and participating in events for all kind of biases.

Mess food is good and is managed by students. Every month the menu keeps on changing depending upon the feedback received by students.Hostel rooms are 2 seated and in good condition. Have washing machine, water aqua-guard, wi-fi facilities.

Seniors are helpful. They tell us the points where they failed or faced any problems. I have interactions with my FPM seniors regularly. Frankly I had not interacted with many PGP seniors but whatever amount I have interacted was good, they responded very nicely.

Exams are part of the learning schedule in my college. There are mid term and end term in a quarterly term. Assignments, Project presentations, Quizzes and Case studies are part of the schedule.

Few faculties are having excellent standards of knowledge and teaching, mostly with above average standards. Our faculties are good in research areas with publishing in A and A* journals (ABDC classification).
