Course Curriculum Overview

3

The main aspect of the curriculum that influenced me to choose this course is nowadays there is a big scope for developers and coders in the world of computers and the college has different clubs that gives chance to the students to showcase their talent and skill. Our curriculum allows students in open hand to participate in different hackathon and codathon where students make a project that is helping in real world problems. In every aspect the teaching can be improved as the subjects that are really helpful to understand the working environment of the industry by which the real face can be shown to the students.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internship can be availed by students under AICTE and Yhill which gives internships to students from 1st year itself. The roles maybe of a prompt engineer, data assistant, tester etc. The projects I have made are Algorithmic sortscape which is web tool used to understand different sorting techniques used in DSA by visualization of the sort in bars and another is cookbuddy which is a recipe generator which takes ingredients as input and generates recipes with step wise clock.

Placement Experience

3

From 6th semester students are eligible for campus placements. The companies which visits every year are TCS, Qualtech, Cognizant etc. which offers an average package of 8-9 lacs per annum and almost 90% students are placed every year. My plan is to appear GATE exam and approach in a govt. organization like SAIL, HAL etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total course fees for computer science branch is 1,60,000 and the hostel fees is 79,000 which is incremented by 1000 every year. For semester registration and form fillup , 1500 and 1000 rupees is paid respectively. Students can avail scholarship.

Campus Life

3

Shrujan is the techno-cultural fest that is held every year in between the month December to February. Many events are organised and students are encouraged to participate in every events like sports like volleyball, cricket, basketball, badminton , table tennis and other technical events like blind coder, debugger etc. and cultural events like singing, dancing, acts etc. with a minimum participation fees. There are clubs like GDSC, Robotics, OB etc. ran by students and they organise workshops in every 4 months where guests are invited to deliver the contents.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are different room according to the no of people living in it(2,3,4) . According to the no of people beds and tables are there and the rooms have one attached washroom with toilet. There are 11 hostels in the campus and for girls there is no hostel inside the campus but outside there are 5 hostels for girls. Meal quality is pretty basic and edible. Hostel registration is done before every odd semester registration . Rooms outside the campus such as pg can be availed by the boys students easily.

Admission

I have not applied for any other colleges as I have left with no choice at the end for pursuing Btech and I have not scored good in JEE as I wasn't preparing for opting BTech. So for choosing private colleges in odisha I chose this because the place is remote and it is heard that the climate is very pleasant. The admission process starts at the month of May an amount of 20000 for seat reservation is taken which will be reduced from the final fees i.e. 2,39,000 when you come to the college admission that helds in the month of July inside the campus. The students and parents should come with the credentials required for the admission which are copies and originals of student's adhaar card, 10th and 12th marksheet, Migration certificate, Father's adhaar card . This fee structure is according to 2023

Faculty

3

Total number of faculties in our college is 120 and that of teaching staffs is 30. In our branch there are 900 students. Faculties are easy approachable. I appreciate the teaching and behaviour of Proff. Dr. Akshay Kumar Sahoo, Dr. Bani Prasad Nayak and Dr. Sashank Sekhar Panda. These are the best teachers in the whole university. There is no disliking for any faculty. In every semester there are 2 cycle tests, 2 class testa and lab tests and viva are held. These tests are decently difficult as it is a preparation for the end semester exam. Course curriculum is a bit outdated as subjects like c are a bit old school.

Interview Experience

3

Topics for GD are: 1) women empowerment 2) AI a blessing or a meanace 3) How GD can make a men strong. For admission you must have a minimum percentage of 60%. For preparation you must acquire general knowledge on the burning topics like this to stand out in the GD to deliver with sufficient content and dominate.

Night Life

3

After 7.30 pm no entrance of students is entertained . Students can't bring food from outside into the campus. Students can go to the central library upto 9 pm. The paid canteen serves food upto 8 pm and the central message where all hostellers are allowed to have their 2 time meal from 6.30 am to 9.40 pm. None can roam out in the campus after 11pm. Outside the college there are different hotels and restaurants where friends can hangout. There is hilltop named sefali where a shiva temple is there which is a pleasant place.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
