An overview of a govt medical college from the pic of a nerd

Becoming a doctor is challenging and it is reflected in the curriculum right from the first year itself. But it is for saving lives. No in between. Profession dedicated for others. I wanna help, that's why I chose it. There are some flaws, like we haven't been taken to FAP, it's been more than 4 months. They just take a lecture instead. And in ECE, we should get to go to hospital, but we haven't yet visited even once. Just in fap, there should be field visit. And as for the teaching methods.. they're good. A few teachers just read from the slides but that's okay as long as we're paying attention to that.

36000 average income when we become interns in our own college, then we will do a rural course where there will be almost 50000 then we will have to pursue higher studies like md and all of that. We are going to become doctors.

I do not know I have just arrived here, and if we talk about pg exams, I have no idea. I guess we can say that if the students study then they can clear it irrespective of which college they are part of.

The year wise fees is about 100000. The tution fee is 24900. Admission fee is 15000. Lab fees is 5000. Other compulsory charges are 48000. The fee schedule is same for all students of other category also.

College week. The best. Then there are other extremely exciting competitions and functions. Like.. some of them are intercollege fests and competitions that are held in medical colleges like Guwahati medical college.

Oh my god where do I even start, Us freshers are not given anything at the Beginning. No almirah no table no chair no nothing. Some of us did not even get a mattress over the bed. There is literally no space. All of it taken up by seniors. They literally live like they own the room. I was lucky that my seniors are good. A couple of my friends live in a space where living for even one person is not possible.

Applied to colleges from Rajasthan. Marks were low. Couldn't get one. There is a medical assessment to see if we're fit to become doctors. Then there is the fee payment process and documents. Finding the departments and getting stamps on papers was cumbersome. Ironically, I helplessly begun to cry in psychiatry department when there was no official for checkup and we were running late

The faculties are well experienced and helping in nature. The faculties have an experience of about 7 years. Also, they put extreme efforts in making us understand. There are at least 5 faculties for one subject for a batch of 126 students. I liked these faculties- Anatomy - Dr. Annie Doley ma'am Dr. Malabika ma'am Dr. Shashwati deka ma'am Dr. DJ sir Dr. Miri sir Dr. Shobhana medhi ma'am Physio - Dr. Preeti pushpa das ma'am Dr. Aditya Boro sir Dr. Aditya Godh sir Dr. Leena ma'am Biochem - All the PG's Dr. Somya jain ma'am Dr. Janhabi ma'am Dr. Pawan sir Dr. Narayan sir Dr. Dipika lahon ma'am (I could not choose among them so I wrote all of their names) There are PCT's and FA's along with internals which are taken every three months. To be honest, they are easy if we study sincerely. Hard if we bunk. I think the course is pretty relevant, the topics in three subjects are well aligned. Easy to understand if we work really hard.

Gym is in the college, it is small. But it works because not many people go to the gym. Also, there is a library and it's pretty nice but I have not seen it properly because us first years are prohibited to go to the library by our seniors as they have exams and just because they can prohibit us from going there. Famous places are none. There are 4 restaurents and town is 20 kms away, 45 min route coz the road is badddd
