What Students Say
Likes
- The environment that the college was built in, it was very peaceful with a great view of mountains.
Dislikes
- No extracurricular activities, no sports, no entertainment, no industry visits.
- No proper lectures, lectures were qualified just in degrees, no real talent for teaching
- The college was more like a factory outputting unqualified students.
Course Curriculum Overview
Pretty outdated just like every other university. I thought I would learn coding and would be able to build apps and websites but I got no such knowledge. The curriculum doesn't prepare you for the real world. Updating the curriculum to modern days from 1940s would be a good upgrade. Teachers who are actually good at teaching and mostly via practical explanations or examples would be good. The exams were difficult sometimes the portions wouldn't be completed before the exams. And the evaluation was weird as hell.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester students are eligible for placements. Wipro, infosys, Hcl, TCS, Robosoft. The highest package was 7LPA(TCS), the average was around 4LPA. 35 TO 40 out of 100 students got placed. I wanted to build a startup so I didn't go through placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fee was around 1Lakh to 1.5Lakh, Registration fee was 800Rs, lab Fees were around 3000, I was admissioned in management category. For E & C the fee was a bit higher at around 1.3Lakh to 1.6Lakh. There was only one scholarship from the karnataka govt it was caller Vidyasarathi and it was 18k per year.
Campus Life
There are no good infrastructure provided by the college. There was just one annual function in my first year and after that corona hit and we got a new principal, and from then we didn't have any functions. The college library was nothing but there was another library like 250m away, this library was pretty big and had all ranges of books and it was also part of SDM institutes. No social groups, clubs (were there just for name sake), no student portals.
Hostel Facilities
There were no power cuts, we had shared bathrooms and toilets in every floor. The meal quality was 2 out of 5. Registration process is simple, bring in the money thats all. I haven't rented any room or PG.
Admission
I really didn't have any idea on which colleges to choose, I just went ahead with the referral from a friend of my father's. Admission process is quite simple, you bring in the money you get admission and they treat you like a king during this time only to throw you like trash later.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio was ok, faculty to student relationship was 2 out of 10, faculties are approachable but most of them have attitudes. I don't think disclosing their names even if I liked them or disliked them is not really proper. There were 3 internals for every semester and 1 sem exam, there were 2 sems every year. The papers were prepared by a university called VTU (when I was studying, I heard it has changed now). The question papers were very difficult sometimes, many students failed even though they knew they couldn't and when applied for re evaluations they would pass with flying colors.
Night Life
No college gym, there was one cateen that is all. The college library would close off at around 6 pm. There were some good hangout places like cafe coffee day, and some small restaurants like Halli mane, Chefs, Galli Kitchen, Empire etc. The locality is pretty safe to roam around at night (a boys perspective).
