What Students Say
Likes
- Transport facilities are available at a really reasonable cost.
- College fest: The fest hosted by our college is really appreciable, with renowned celebrities, one fest per academic session but that is worth waiting for.
- The training and placement department pays a lot attention on focussing on intellectual and skill developement of students, resulting in a good placement statistics.
Dislikes
- The male-to-female ratio at the campus would be approximately 75% males to 25% females.
- Hectic schedule: As a day scholar who spends approximately 3hrs for travelling ,it becomes really hectic and tiring to attend continuous lectures from 9am to 4:30 pm.
- Hostel facilities :some of my peers expressed concerns about the quality of hostel accommodations.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum covers all the essential topics that provides solid foundation to concepts(OOPS ,DBMS ,COA, OS etc.)that are required as B.Tech graduate to appear for placements. The course brings both theoritical and practical applications of concepts. Some scope of improvement is expected in the course curriculum that reflect the latest industry trends and market demands. It becomes really hectic to manage to give exams so frequently (3-4 exams for each semester).
Fees and Financial Aid
I fee structure for the whole course was disclosed all at once at the time of admission. The year wise breakdown is as follows: -First year:151500/- -Second year:141000/- -Third year:141000/- -Fourth year:143000/- In addition to this,a yearly exam fee for approx 8200 (8200*4 for whole course),and a one time university registration fee amounting 2300 was also charged. Fee relaxation is also offered for categories(few wavier candidates). If scholarship is provided, approx 50000 is offered. No merit based scholarships are offered(as per the best of my knowledge).
Campus Life
The fests:The freshers party hosted around November- December is an absolute hit.Dandiya night is also organized during navratris, several celebrities join for their movie promotions.Sports events are also organized. Libraries:A wide variety of books are available at each library the campus owns(2 libraries are there for B.Tech students). The classrooms and labs are well equipped with technical facilities including projectors and Wi-Fi connectivity. The campus too offers encouragement for sports and extracurricular activities.Clubs for the same are formed, events are organized where students can showcase their talents. Rotaract club,Navrang club,GDSC,etc are some student run social groups.
Admission
I applied in ABES,IMS,AKGEC,NIET and others where i got confirmed admission. One of the main reasons to choose G.L. Bajaj over other institutions was its really impressive placement statistics. It offers really good placement oppotunities with leading companies. I opted for direct admission as my 10 and 12th grades were more convincing as compared to my Jee performance.I scored 92% in 12th and 94.2% in 10th,so i got the branch of my choice in G.L. Bajaj while others were offering branches which was on my priority list. You can either opt for direct admission or through JEE counselling. For direct admission, you can visit the campus, internal faculties will counsel you, based on your 12th & 10th results(may consider Jee result as well),they tell you for what branches you are eligible, and then you may choose and deposit amount to reserve your admission .
Faculty
For a class of 60 students,1 professor is alotted. For labs the class is divided into halves i.e 30 students and 1 professor. Most faculties are knowledgeable and try to deliver concepts in a polite manner. You can surely approach any faculty to mentor you ,be it for academics or others, and they are kind enough to guide you well. One of my personal favourite professor was Ms.Uma Tomar ma'am ,she taught me cyber security(4th sem) and system design (5th sem) .She not only taught concepts very efficiently but was also kind enough to understrand thing with students's pov. There was no such faculties that i didn't like for any reasons. For each semester, two sessional exams (50 marks each, partial syllabus) and one pre-university test(70 marks, complete syllabus) occur before the actual university exams(additional makeup tests for students who fail in particular subjects).
Night Life
Students can hangout at nearby malls(Venice mall,Omaxe mall etc),enjoy cafes and street food at alpha 2 market, and many other local places within 15 min distance from the campus. Hostel students can also play at the ground, basketball court, footshell,or indoor playarea.Library and cafeteria are also open till 8pm. Hostel students must report to campus by 8pm(timings may vary for girls and boys). Separate hostels are there for boys and girls. Greater Noida is a hub for educational institutions, and is fairly populated so can be considered safe but still for additional safety as a precautionary measure it is advised to travel in groups if late in night and practice self safety.
