What Students Say
Likes
- The college is pretty much run entirely by students which means the professors will not bother you during fests etc. The overall environment is chill
- The course is designed strictly to make it more relevant for the job market. You can opt for small research projects under professors from the first year itself
- The sports teams in this institute are pretty good and it is encouraged usually.
Dislikes
- The campus is located 10 kms away from city which makes it hard to order things. The outlets in the campus itself are few and limited
- The fees is exorbitantly high for the facilities they provide. Sports facilities, outlets and library is a bit lacking.
- The academics are too tough. If you want to pursue other things after btech which require good CGPA do not come here.
Course Curriculum Overview
The coding culture of this college is pretty good. The curriculum is designed to prepare you for the job market from the first year itself although it is a bit rigorous for the average student. There is not much time between different exams and the difficulty level is high, so if you want to score CG you need to be prepared for the exams from the get-go.
Placement Experience
Students sit for on campus intership in 6th semester provided they have no active backlogs. Famous companies that visit include Samsung, medianet, delloite, amazon, google etc. Each of them except media net usually makes more than 20 offwrs. Highest package and average for each branches hover around 55 and 13-14 lakh respectively. The average package for CSE is around 15-16 lakhs. Percentage of students placed is always above 85-90 percent. I plan to try for placements or do a MBA after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The first year tuition fees is rs 550000. The tuition fees increases at a rate of 10 percent every year, so the final 4 year tuition fees inclduing admission fees is 257300. The mess+ hostel + electricity fee per semester is 57000 thousand rupees. There is no different fee schemes for different category students. There are scholarships available for economically weaker students, and also merit based scholarships available which are given to students who score above 9.25 CGPA.
Campus Life
The sports fest is called Desportivos and it is held in the month of February. A smaller inter college fest called conquest is also held in october as preparation for Desportivos. The tech fest is called Plinth and its smaller counterpart is called Quantz. They are held in January and September respectively. The Cultural fest is called Vivacity, and its smaller counterpart is called Gusto. They are held in February and October respectively. The books available are mostly of academic nature and books for recreational reading are rarely available. All the classes and labs are in good condition and the equipment provided come from reputed companies. The sports facilities are a bit lacking. There is no swimming pool present in campus. All the clubs in college are run entirely by students without any interference by management, and they are main source of social engagement for students as they are active throughout the year.
Hostel Facilities
A study table, a chair, a bed equipped with mattress, a pin board and two wardrobes are provided in the room. Mess quality is decent although the menu lacks variety and no-non veg is made inside the campus. You can register for hostel on the day of admission itself. The fees for mess + hostel + electricity is 57000 rs per senester. PG and rooms are not allowed until unless there's an exceptional circumstance.
Admission
I applied to BIT mesra, and some other NITs. I didn't go to these colleges because I wasn't getting my desired branches. LNMIIT accepts students through their JEE scores. The cutoff for cse is 97 percentile, for cce 96, for ece 95 and for mech it is around 93 percentile.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is pretty decent and they are open to your questions. You can make appointments with anyone of them through email and visit their cabin. I liked Dr. Kadalbajoo who is a maths faculty. Dr Sandeep Saini who teaches ECE students is also a good professor. I dislike and do not agree with Dr Ritesh Bharadwaj' teaching methods. There's 1 midterm and 1 endsem with around 2 quizzes for each subject per semester. The course semester is very relevant however the paper and checking are hard. Atleast 20-25 percent of the batch fail to clear the exams
Night Life
All the facilities close after 10:45 PM which is the hostel intime for students. The same intime is for college too. Libraries are sometime open till 12 AM. The famous hangout place inside campus are hilltop, great wall, GHC , and canteen etc. Students open visit nearby thadis to eat and to unwind after a day of classes. The locality is a bit deserted so it's not entirely safe to roam around but there haven't been any untowards incidents so far as intime of college is 11 pm.
