Course Curriculum Overview
I was always interested in Electronics, and when i came across the curriculum and scope of this course in VIT, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. The core companies like Samsung, NXP Semiconductors come in final year to recruit Electronics students. The subjects that are taught to us are exactly what they ask in interviews of core companies. The best part of VIT is that they prepare each and every student for minimal coding jobs as well. Coding has become an essential part in today's life, and hence being an Electronics Engineer also, it is a big advantage that I know coding well whose credit goes to my college. The exams have a good difficulty level which checks your concepts more rather than your capability to mug up. If you pay attention in classes, the professors notes are a very good resource. The library has many books that can be borrowed at any time as well.
Internships Opportunities
Companies that offered internship in our college are Schneider, Citi Bank (75,000 rupees stipend), UPL (40,000 rupees stipend), Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, etc. I did projects like Emotion recognition using ML, book/movie recommender system, etc under my guide which helped me during my internship as well as my placements.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placement from 7th semester. More than 750 companies already visited this year (2024-25). Big companies like Google, Microsoft, Zomato, etc visited the campus and recruited the best minds. Highest package is of 1Cr as of now this year. Percentage placement is 95% every year. I plan on taking placement and contributing to the industry.
Fees and Financial Aid
VIT provides very good scholarships for meritorious students. Students having a rank below 200 in VITEEE get huge discounts in their tution fees even upto 75%. I pay a tution fees of 2 Lakhs per annum making it 8 Lakhs for 4 years. VIT has a fees category system. According to your rank in VITEEE(Entrance exam for VIT) and your choice of stream, a fees category is allotted to you. It is a very efficient system because it gives you the flexibility of monetory decisions and your choice of stream. I am in first category, and the fees increases category wise.
Campus Life
We have 2 major fests, namely GRAVITAS (Technical Fest) and RIVIERA (Cultural Fest). Both the fests have very high footfall from all across the globe. The books and journals present in the library has a huge spectrum. All types of books are there and can be borrowed for 2 weeks. There are many smart class rooms with the best modern amenities and digitalised tools. We have face recognition system for class attendance. VIT has amazing sports and extra curricular opportunities. Big basketball grounds, tennis lawn, volleyball grounds are there. There are more than 150 clubs and chapters where there are regular events.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are very good. Girls have 9 hostels whereas boys have 16 hostels. Hostels are clean, maintained and spacious. AC, Non AC rooms are there according to your choice and budget. The hostel registration is based on your CGPA.
Admission
I got confirmed admission from KIIT. But I chose VIT, because of the brilliant exposure it offers. I chose VIT also because the curriculum of my stream, ECE(Electronics and Communication Engineering) was really relevant to the industry. The entrance exam for VIT is VITEEE where questions from physics, chemistry, math/biology, english and logical reasoning are asked. There is no negative marking and you cannot go back to any question after attempting it.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is very good. The faculties are very helpful and approachable. My faculties in Electronics have been very patient with me, listening to my recurring doubts every now and then. Ajeya ma'am from Electronics school has been very kind to me. She used to take Analog Electronics class and during that semester, I was sick but she was really considerate. We have 2 assessment tests of 15 marks weightage, 2 quizzes, 1 digital assignment and 1 Final exam. The pass criteria is scoring 40 in Final Exam and a overall of 50. The course curriculum is very relevant to the industry work. Being in my final year, I can understand the relevance of our curriculum and the knowledge required in industry.
Night Life
There are multiple gyms for boys and girls seperately. The gym facilities are also decent. The hostel timings for boys is 9:00 PM and for girls it is 8:30 PM. The campus timings for girls is 7:00 PM and for boys it is 8:00 PM. The famous hangout places in campus are the FC(Food Court), DC (Darling Cafe) and GDN Canteen.
