My brother had the option of VIT for CSE on merit still he chose PEC metallurgy. There are various reasons as to why he took that decision: VIT is more expensive. Even if he had gone on merit, it would have cost him much more than PEC. Placements in core companies in ECE are negligible. You can sit for IT companies, but they pay less to ECE undergraduates than CSE counterparts. If you are a north Indian, culturally VIT might be different and might take time to adjust. Metallurgy is an undervalued branch in India; many of my seniors are pursuing MS from Germany, the United States, and France, and some have gone to IIMs and FMS with strong credentials. One of our seniors received a PPO of 15 lakhs, which is more than many students from elite branches. You can choose to upgrade, but you'll quickly realize that it's not that simple because the grading criteria favors those who are less deserving (no offense). Whether you accept it or not, those who claim that placement in metallurgy is poor (as it is in all branches except CS/IT) are correct. Placements in the core are hard to come by. Only 4000 people in GATE are from metallurgy, whereas there are 1.8 lakh from CSE and 2.1 lakh from Mechanical, implying that the probability of you getting a PSU is greater than that of a mechanical engineer. Cons: Don't have their permanent campus as of now and the temporary campus is also not that good. You have to pick your peer group very wisely because the type of people you choose will become your peer group. Pro The institute in which you will be studying is of national importance which is controlled by MHRD. It has a good reputation just like any other IITs/NITs. You will get the mentorship of some experienced faculties as PhD is mandatory for all the faculties here. Dharwad is quite close to Bangalore so you can get good placement opportunities. The campus of IIIT Dharwad will be really amazing. The facilities like hostel and mess are better in comparison to any other college/institutes. If you are a sports lover, you will have many sports facilities like cricket, football, basketball etc. And most importantly, you will have the brand name of IIIT which really matters. I am currently in 4th year and im paying Rs 3 Lakh for tuition and 2 lakh as hostel fees. Hostel fees depends on which hostel is chosen AC/NON -AC. The fees is based on the Category given by the institute during the admission process. There are 5 category of fees with 1 being the lowest fees. The fees can go up to 10 Lakh including hostel fee for NRI students. The admission for Btech is through the VITEEE exam which costs Rs 1350 for online mode.

VIT has FFCS(Fully Flexible Credit System) is a system where we can choose subjects, teachers and time slots according to our convenience.

VIT provides very good scholarships for meritorious students. Students having a rank below 200 in VITEEE get huge discounts in their tution fees even upto 75%. I pay a tution fees of 2 Lakhs per annum making it 8 Lakhs for 4 years. VIT has a fees category system. According to your rank in VITEEE(Entrance exam for VIT) and your choice of stream, a fees category is allotted to you. It is a very efficient system because it gives you the flexibility of monetory decisions and your choice of stream. I am in first category, and the fees increases category wise.

MY LIFE AT VIT

I am very fond of the flexible FFCS ( Fully Flexible Credit System ) where students are allowed to choose their course and their faculty and also their class timings all by themselves

The fees I paid in total is 198000 which includes tution fees , lab fees , development fees. I opted for a 6 bed AC deluxe which costes me 175000 including the deposit fees and caution fees which is 15000. There a lot different types of hostels available for fees ranging from 150000 to 250000 which has (AC normal , AC Deluxe and NON AC ) there are 2,3,4,6,8 bed rooms available The total fees for students depends upon the rank achieved in VITEEE the fees varies as follows 1st category 2lakh 2nd category 3lakh 3rd category 4lakh 4rth category 4.5lakh 5th category 5lakh

First thing is that the fees is very high

Year wise fees that I will paid is 2,08000 and This fees included the cution fees which is 3000 and then admission fees which is 10k. For the 2nd to 4th year we need to give 1,95000 for each year . College is provided the stars scholarship for the district topper of the state.

VIT: The Whole Truth

Paying 2 lakh almost, for a prosperous Engineering Degree that is ECE, more prosperous expected in the future, I feel like VIT is doinh a great job at establishing students. Even the hostels are better than competitors and food provided is above the expected quality.

In vit, the year wise fees depends on categories you opted at the time of admission. The tuition fees ranges from 200000 to 500000 depending on the fee category. This is only the academic fees. The hostel fees also depends on the type of room and hostel mess you opt for. The other expenses like lab fees and other compulsory charges are included in the academic fees you pay yearly. There are various scholarships also provided by VIT like RAJAJI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP for needy students on merit cum need basis. It's overall a good college, opens various opportunities and gives exposure to various career options. It also has foreign exchange programs under the foreign relations department.

This year fees will be Rs.304000.This is the fixed fees for each year. in the first year there is an additional Rs.3000 to be paid as registration fees.There are no extra fees such as development fees or lab fees.There are 5 categories for paying fees ranging between Rs.200000 and Rs.500000. This is based on the entrance exam VITEEE rank . The lesser the rank ,lesser the fees you pay. This also depends on the group you are selecting. If there is more demand for a particular group you might end up paying more to get that group compared to a group with lesser students preferring it.
