What Students Say
Likes
- Things I like is firstly, less pressure of assignments and irrelevant works.
- Secondly, college infrastructure and spacious rooms, not suffocating and is well litted and ventileted.
- Thirdly, faculties and department teachers are so supportive and engaging for students
Dislikes
- Things I disliked firstly is, long hours of college as we have total 8 periods everyday and 50 minutes each including extra 50 minute lunch break, causing tiredness.
- Secondly, girls to boys ratio is like 1:10 or less, which is not okay.
- Thirdly, college syllabus is some outdated type, that needs to focus more on practical than theoretical knowledge.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have inspired for my BTech course in Computer Science because of my interest and growing market of it. As college course will not more contribute towards growth of skills, we have to put extra efforts towards it. Personally felt like, curriculum should be updated so that it matches with current job trends like AIs and Blockchain, building AI based projects, etc.
Placement Experience
Placements in GCET are average. We have placement cell which acknowledges students from 6th semester to sit in placements. Around 10-14 companies visited, some are Infosys, HCL Technologies, IBM, Jubliant, etc. They offer a package of around 7-8 LPA to CS students. There is chance of 80% students to get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to apply for on-campus as well as off-campus placements for better opportunity and appearing for GATE exam.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year-wise fees for my degree Computer Science and Engineering is 1,10,000 yearly. It is the tuition fees, apart from this 20,000 should be paid at the time of admission, that is, in first year only. Also, an additional exam is 7,500 each year will be paid directly to AKTU as exam fee. This is same for all category student. All my batchmates are paying the same fees, except few students that fall under the category of fee exempted student quota at the time of counselling of AKTU, means, they do not require to pay tuition fee only. The tuition doesn't increase yearly, it remains same. Talking about scholarship, UP government provides scholarship having low income family. The amount provided is around 56,000 per student each year.
Campus Life
In GCET, there is around 8-9 active clubs of different domains. They are quite good in thir fields. Also, there is technical, cultural, and annual fests organized by student core council time to time. There is a central Library and consists of various ranges of books including syllabus, skill based, competitive exams, research papers, etc. In classrooms, a proper ventilated and litted space is provided. In terms of sports infrastructure, different areas are made for different sports. There is a club called Rotaract, responsible to help in social cause, and providing basic neccesities to poor people, it is like NGO, which is a popular club in GCET
Admission
At the time of counselling, GCET is my 3rd preference as I have properly researched about it and matches with my eligibilty criteria as well. I have also applied for JIIT Noida, but couldn't able to get CSE branch. However, In greater noida, comparing to other private colleges, GCET is much better option because of its location, fee structure, campus size. Admission process happened through AKTU counselling, also 15% seats researved for direct admission as well. Exams like JEE mains and percentile above 85 is required for CS branch and vary according to course.
Faculty
Faculties are quite helpful and approchable. They look into student matter and do as much as they can. The faculty to student ratio is 1 faculty per 50 student alloted in term of mentor provided. I like our coordinator having strong background in her subject COA, as she is determined and funny. Also, one teacher I don't is our discrete maths teacher beacause of his authoritive behaviour and not a good student teacher relationship. We have total 3 internal and one main semester exam. And total 8 semesters. Internal exams are intermediate and so is main sem exam. Almost every student got passing marks except 2or3.Course curriculum is theory based, we also have laboratory subjects.
Night Life
As I am not in college hostel, but my friends have a good night life their, however, there are more restriction for girls comapring to boys. Girls intime is 9:00pm and for boys,it is 10:00pm. There is big shopping complex right in front of college, helpful for all basic nessesity. In college campus, there is gym, cafeteria, library. Famous hangout place is Venice mall, paintra restaurant and Jagat market. Locality is safe for night roamings, but consider with it friends.
