Likes
- The campus of VIT vellore is beautiful and the crowd is from everywhere. So you will get to socialize with many people and opportunities here are endless in terms of placements.
- The faculties are mostly south Indian but they do not talk in their local language. Only english is preferred. The rules are bit more.
- You can't stay outside without permission of proctor and the in time for the boy's hostel is 9 pm. 9 to 6 are silent hours so no noise is allowed.
Dislikes
- The crowd is the problem here. They take admission in bulk whoch results to competition in seriously everything.
- CGPA is like god here. You will get your teachers and hostel rooms only if your CGPA is decent. 9 pointers don't have to go to classes
- The campus is very big spready around 500 acres. So be reasy to walk and ealk and walk until you find yourself with weight loss. Useful for burning calories :)
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum followed here is easy to understand. Just complete the credits with good grades and you will get good CGPA. We are assigned 2 DA and one quiz in every subject which consists of 30 marks, 10 each. 2 CATs consists of 15 marks and FAT consists of 40 marks. The courses helps to provide deep learning of the course which can be used to solve real world problems.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Deloitte, Apple provides interships whereas mass recruiters like TCS takes in bulk around 4000 student with the package of Rs. 3.36 Lakhs. Around 1000 companies comes here with their job description and sets the eligibility criteria, based on that criteria, you can sit for the placements.
Placement Experience
The placements here provides the good ROI ratio. As many companies comes ranging from Rs. 3 Lakhs to Rs. 60 Lakhs. The average package is Rs. 650000 for CSE branch and you can get many opportunities here if you have good fundamentals in your core subjects and coding efficiency. VIT is crowded so there is competition too.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are different categories for admission and the category are decided based on rank secured by a student in VITEEE. Fees starts from 200000 for category 1 and ends at 495000 at category 2. The student who gets rank under 500 gets the scholatship of 50% in category 1.
Campus Life
VIT has a campus spread across 500 acres. You can easily find anything that interests you like the badminton courts, gyms, basketball courts etc. Students comes from every part of India and even outside of India, so there is high chances to have good social life too. The fest conducted here is Riviera where many artists performs like Armaan Malik did last year, Shreya Goshal did this year. It is a completely fun experience for 4 days.
Hostel Facilities
We have different types of rooms available ranging from one bed to 6 bed. Student can choose to get into their desired room only if they have good CGPA. One can also select thier friends as roommates. There are various mess available in college named Veg mess, Non veg mess and special mess. Special mess covers both veg and non veg food. The prise of every mess is different and you can also change the mess by providing the amount. Mess quality is above average but fet ready to eat dosa and idli everyday :)
Admission
So I chose this college mainly for placement opportunities. I was getting several other private colleges like Manipal, UPES, MIT pune etc. But the crowd there was not good compared to here. Almost 1000 companies comes every year for the recruitment process. In order to get into VIT, you have to give VITEEE and based on thr rank secured in this exam, you can select the branch available and the category.
Faculty
We are giving a certain number of credis which we have to complete in 4 years. For CSE, the number of credits to be completed are 161. If any student fails to pass in any subject, then he/she has to re register the course by giving Rs. 6000. There are faculties available for every course which helps to get good grades. The teachers I liked the most is Dr. Vinila Jenny for Java and Nausad Mansoor Lashkar in Micro. There are two monthly exams named CAT and one final named FAT which contains 40 marks of overall.
Night Life
Nightlife is not at all happening as boy's hostel have in time of 9 pm where girl's have in time of 8:30 pm. 9 to 6 am are considered as silent hours so you can't play music or roam around in hostel in night. Cutting birthday cakes are also not allowed in night. In day, you can see students sitting in Foodys having fun by playing guitar, gossiping about anything and dance.
