Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose the course because I wanted to join the merchant Navy and explore the world in season and on board ships and explore the world. The first 3 smesters of the curriculum is that of normal engineering and is composed of general engineering subjects but from the 4th semester we start learning about ship related subjects which will be helpful for us in onboard a ship and these subjects also have a lot of practical uses onboard a ship

Placement Experience

5

The placement in our college has been very good as of late. The batch of 2023 and 2024 had a 100% placement rate.if you do not get placement through campus placement it is going to be a hard road infront of you as then you will have to try placement through agents and agecies which is very risky so try your best to get placement during campus placement itself.if you don't have back papers you have a 99% of securing a placement during campus placement. You will be eligible for placement from semester 6.The companies who frequently visit our campus are Synergy and fleet management. The highest package achieved in our college is of 6 lakh per year and the average package is of 4.5 lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hi my college's name is kunjali marakkar school of marine engineering (kmsme) it is a part of Cochin University of science and technology (cusat). The year wise fees here can vary from 185000 to 300000 lakhs depending on whether you have got your admission through state merit or all india merit rank. The fees of other categories like obh, scene,st is provided my government my the means of e-grants.The students of general category and every category can apply for scholarship test which will be beneficial for providing them aid and reduction in fees

Campus Life

4

My overall experience in the college has been good. The college has helped me improve in social aspects and sports in the college has helped me meet new people and interact with new people and socialize. The infrastructure of the college needs improvement as it is outdated. The college offers all kinds of sports basketball, cricket, football, table tennis, volleyball etc

Admission

I chose this college over other maritime institutes as this college has had a very high placement rate in the recent times. It's placement rate in the last year ie of 2023 batch was 100%.I did not apply to other maritime colleges i only applied to kmsme. The admission process in my college is first you have to write a exam called imu cet and you need to have a valid rank in that examination and you also need to apply for cusat cat examination these are the requirements required to apply to my college. The cutoff ranks vary every year.Every year the competition is getter tougher and tougher so you also need to have a good rank to get the admission.so i would suggest a rank below 5000k in imu cet will secure you a seat in kmsme. My overall admission experience was good in this college .The staff were very friendly and helped me in every step of the admission process and during the admission process they had conducted an induction class to talk to us about the course and discuss every aspects of the course to us

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is sufficient and the student and faculty relationship to very good depending on the faculty.most of the faculty members are very supportive and approachable. There are 2 internal exams and 1 external (university exam) in a semester.some students sometimes fail to clear the exam.most of the times the ratio is less. The course is very much relevant to the course curriculum

Night Life

2

Since my course is a residential course and is semi military course and follows a strict regime we need to enter back the college by 9.30.if you try entering the hostel after 9.30 the wardens will close the door and you wont be allowed to enter the hostel and a roll call is taken at 9.30 to ensure that all the students are present in the hostel

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the. I'll be aiming for higher educations most probably
