Remarks

Four years pass by quickly. You will look back and cherish the memories you made here. The crowd is mostly decent so you will easily share a good rapport with everyone. No matter which department it is, you will find co-operative staff members barring one or two exceptions. The college environment is rejuvenating especially in monsoon since it is situated in the backdrop of lush green nature and mountains. One downside many might point out is the school-like timings of college. Leave alone when to go, the college even decides if you are allowed to enter the college or not if you are late. Overall, the experience is worth writing a book.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is decided by the University of Mumbai. The curriculum has a more theoritical approach, which needs to be revised to enable the students to have an on-hand practical experience with the concepts they learn during the course.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college provides internship to students who apply for it. I worked at a tech startup based out of Kandivali area where I not only brushed my SQL skills but also earned a stipend of Rs 3000/- for a month.

Placement Experience

3.5

Despite the fact that Universal College of Engineering is only 7 years old, it has managed to pull a large pool of recruiters. Companies that visited the campus durung my final year included Amazon, L&T, Capgemini, Snapdeal, etc.

College Events

5

The college celebrates Vyro, a technical fest, every year in the month of Jan-Feb. It is organised at a national level to encourage participation of students from other cities and states as well. The college also celebrates Soul of Universal, a cultural fest, also at a national level.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible compared to the other colleges in Mumbai. Expensive if you look at it individually. You can submit post-dated checks and pay the fees in installments. The college administration is moderately strict when it comes to payment of fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college campus houses a branch of the Indian Bank from where students can not only make transactions to college or keep some money in case of an emergency but also avail loan facilities. The on-campus banking service saves the hassle of finding a nearby ATM.

Campus Life

5

The college organises sports competitions, technical paper presentation events, field trips, etc. During my final year at college, a photography workshop was also organized by college with the help of a team from Canon. The labs are well maintained with well-functioning systems, robust equipment, excellent ventilation; all under the critical supervision of the lab incharge staff.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The college does not have hostel facility yet. The college owns a piece of land right opposite to the campus where it plans to construct a hostel in the coming years. For students coming from distant places, the college administration provides assistance in finding accommodation nearby areas.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is extremely pro-active with latest job listings being constantly shared in social circle. It is always easy to contact anyone from college even after you pass out from college. Moreover, the college also organises one or two alumni meets every year to keep the network running.

Exam Structure

Apart from the two semesters that are conducted in an academic year, students also have to appear for two term tests for every semester each, the average marks of which are added to the total marks obtained in the semester exam. As per thr university curriculum, practicals and vivas are also conducted for relevant subjects.

Admission

I took MHT-CET in May'2012 after which, I was eligible for the Centralised Admission Process. After document verification at the centre near my residence, I applied for multiple colleges at a time with my score. During the 2nd round of the process, I was alloted Univeral College of Engineering where I chose to confirm my seat and opted out of the admission process.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is extremely student-friendly and approachable. Be it the Head of Department of a stream or a junior professor, every faculty member is inclined to help and encourage students in any aspect that will help them build their profile for life after college.
