Course Curriculum Overview
The inclusion of subjects such as International Relations and Contemporary Political Thought has widened the area and scope of the subject and has made the curriculum aligned with the curriculum of premiere instituions in the country . The curriculum is highly practical and useful for further academic pursuits and exams such as UGC NET /JRF , Phd entrance exams etc . Exams are held after regular intervals along with mid semester exams in every semester . Questions asked in exam are easy if one has attended the classes regularly .
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees is 8,340 rupees which is paid in two installmemts of 4,170 rupees in two semesters in each year . Fees for OBCs is same like that of general category while SCs and STs have zero admisson and tuition fees . Different types of scholarships are available for different categories of people such as Chaatra Kalyan Scholarship etc .
Campus Life
Overall campus life is good and happening . We get to meet students from different states in india and even students from foreign countries such as Afghanistan , Malaysia , Thailand etc . Regular seminars and sessions are organised by different departments on different topics and issues which are helpful and provide deep insights to students . The infrastructure , books , journals and resources in library are quite rich in content for academic growth and development. Cyber library is also there to provide students to access to computers for digital surfing.
Admission
I gave CUET PG entrance exam for sociology and Political Science and applied to DU and BHU for M.A Political Science . I was alloted a seat in BHU but wanted to take admission in DU where i didnt got a seat due to low marks . Then i gave entrance exam for M.A Political Science in Lucknow University where i got 3rd rank and took admission . Students who have done graduation in any field are free to take entrance exam for M.A Political Science in Lucknow University. Entrance exam is of 200 marks while the cutoff ranges between 120-150 for general category students . The syllabus for the entrance exam is usually the syllabus of UG Political Science .
Faculty
Faculty to students ratio is large ( 1 professor for 120 srudents ) but the faculty is approchable and helpful . Every professor is specialized in his/her respective field . Among all Sanjay Gupta Sir, Kaviraj Sir , Manuka Khanna Maam and Kamal Sir are quite popular . In the first year in each semester there are 6 papers such as Western Political Thought , Political Theory , Modern Political System , Indian Political System , State Politics in India etc . Then in 3rd and 4th semester there are 4 papers , one interdepartmental paper and a research paper in 3rd semester while a thesis in the last semester . Exams are quite easy . Out of the whole syllabus 10 questions are given in which a student has to do 5 questions carrying 14 marks each .
Night Life
Tafri cafe located just infront of the university gate is quite popular among the students . Along with it Danbro and AONE bakery are also there when craving for sweet tooth. Hostel life is fun and worth remembering throughout life . Kishori canteen , commerce canteen and Pandey canteen ka chola samosa are quite famous .
