Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am an Astrophysics enthusiast so I took the course Masters in space science from my heart.Studyisng this course broaden my knowledge in this field and ignite me to pursue a career in recspected field.I prefer disscussive modes and seminars rather that lectures.Frequent exams are kinda difficult for me as I am doing another courses to broaden my knowledge.Overall the course MSc space science of MG university is very good and highly informative.obe thing I prefer to include is add some of recent advancements in physics in the Syllubus its will be good.

Placement Experience

3

Last year students are eligible for campus placements.Placement is for banks and some technical companies. The recruiters are Solar,I tellipaat, key value,HDFC bank ,icici ,Infosys ,epi , magi , iris, Kotak, focus edumatics etc.In the year of 2023-24 around 134 students got selected all are from commerce field .After my MSc I plan to crack gate ,net and earn a PhD in astrophysics and related fields. Also trying to get a job .

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm from the caste OBC and some scholarships like PJMS and CH Muhammed Koya scholarships are only available for minority communities. My families annual income is 4L- 4.5 L so no e-grants is available for me.The fee I have paid is about 11000 in the beginning excluding semester fee and exam fee. Exam fee varies from semester to semester and amount is 950-1050 Rs.I am a hosteller ,hostel fee is 6000 per month,so for 12 months it's INR 72000.

Admission

I got admission for st Thomas college ,Ranni. I didn't choose it because it's just MSc Physics and the college is not good compared to my college. I got admission to MHES Vadakara . It's a private college. I got rejections from some colleges that I applied like Govt Madapally college, Govt Arts and science college Calicut, because of my marks .Admission process to my college includes Qualification checking and interviews for management quota students. Now my college is autonomous, which have a separate admission process than university colleges.

Faculty

4

The faculties are good and they are qualified from recognised universities. They are very supportive and mold students for their good careers. They arrange various workshops and seminars for growth of knowledge of students.I don't want to mention names some faculties complete portions and internals at correct time and also give retest for weak students. Some of them didnt even provide the marks of exams conducted previous years. The questions that they ask for exams are highly valid. Some students fails exam only becuse of their carelessness.

Night Life

1

My hostel curfew is 6:30 pm and we don't have any night lifes .campus timing is from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.There are many places to hang out like marine drive, jnl stadium, infowars campus etc Our night life is in hostel room and study hall.

Practical Applications like practical session, intership or industrial collaboration that gives hands on experience influence me to choose this course (biotechnology). Core subjects like genetics , molecular biology, genetic engineering, microbiology etc.. and connection with field like bioinformatics, bioprocessing etc .. prepare me for further academic pursuits. For practical session teaching method requires improvement. The frequency and timing of exam is a difficult level .

Our batch was in Covid lag batch. So the course curriculum was highly rushed. We weren't able to cover aspects which would have real world applications. The last semester research project was fine but still more hands on experience and more research oriented approach could've been taken .

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is overall average. the vcurriculum is not up-to-date, and the changes in technology or the new innovations and updations in technology are not introduced in the curriculum. also the inconsistency in conducting exams is also a problem; the university is to blame for that; there is no fixed time period or a timetable for the examinations conducted by the university. and also the dirty politics going on in the university is also to blame for this.
