Course Curriculum Overview

4

well in the first year everyone has to study the same subjects irrespective of their branch in the second year onwards youd be studing your own course. i dont know much bcs i am in the first year but i can tell you one thing that enginnering is indeed hard and you would really have to be ready to pull all nighters before exams.

Internships Opportunities

4

i am a first year student so i dont know much about that but from what i have heard its pretty good. companies like google and microsoft come here so dont worry about it. just work hard enough and youll have a lot of oppurturnities.

Placement Experience

5

the best part about this college are its placements. the average package is around 12lpa and for cse it is 20lpa and for ece it is 17lpa. then it falls down to 12lpa for eee and mnc. the rest of the branches have average package in range of 7 to 11 lpa qwith civil having the lowest and mechanical having the highest with 11lpa. the highest package this year was 60 lpa. almost 70 to 80 percent of the students get placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

the year wise fees is something around 400000 in total including hostel and academic fees. the mess fees advance to be paid is 35000 and then onwards it is about 20000. talking about scholarships there arent too many for general students but there are some available to category reserved students. but the good thing is that sbi's scholar loan covers up all the fees to be paid and you can get upto 30lacks without any colleteral as this is a tier b college.

Campus Life

4

there are more than 50 clubs here and youll get to see a lot of events throughout the year. the biggest fest is called bitotsav and it usually happens in march. the second best is pantheons which happens in october and its a tech fest so there will be events like hackathon etc. and youll get the chance to show your skills. then there is the sports fest which happens in january. youll get to play in inter hostel cricket and football tournament and trust me some of the players here are really good. the library is not as good as other colleges its small in size and at the time of exam it gets completely filled and you wouldnt find a seat there. plus the timing is 10am to 9pm and 10am to 6pm on holidays so its really disappointiong. in terms of social life its kinda okay. for girls i its less okay bcs of the time restrictions. there arent many places to hang out here but if you can make friends trust me you wouldnt have much problem in this aspect.

Hostel Facilities

2

the hostels are really old. the rooms are really small and there no way you can share the room with another person. if you dont bcms good friends with your roommate you will have trouble sharing such a small room with someone. the messfood isnt that good but its managable. youll certainly have weight loss here bcs of the quality of food but after some time you will get used to it. you will get your hostel at the time of admission and you will have to pay the hostel fees along with the tution fees. you wouldnt have a choice there. even if you want to live outside somewhere, you would still have to pay the hostel fees.

Admission

i got in this college through jee mains. i had filled this college among my top priorities bcs it was in my range as i had 98 percentile in jee mains. i had done some research on the colleges i could get on his percentile and i think it was not a bad choice. i would say that it lies at the level of mis tier nits so but choose mid tier nits above it bcs of the fees.

Faculty

3

well i would say that all the profs here are highly qualified but some of them are not good at teaching and some of them are not good at behaving. lets rate all departments one by one. cse and aiml: most profs are chill and the hod is a really nice guy. ece: the profs are chill but most of them are not good at teaching. youll have trouble with syllabus bcs it very vast. eee:oh god! they are the worst, extremely rude and not so good at teaching. plus the vast syllabus makes eee the toughest branch here. mech: the best faculty among all. i havent heard anything negative about any of them. in the first sem i had mechanics and the profs was one of the very best i have ever studied from.

Night Life

4

theres not much nightlife here. girls must get in their hostels around 8:30 pm and everything closes after 9pm. theres only one gym for all the boys and it gets really crowded. there another gym but no one wants to go to it bcs its really old and the equipment is really rusty. the most happening place is the inner canteen but its not too big. then there the laxmi canteen which is just outside the campus and the most visited place by me and my friends but its not a plces where everyone goes and youll know why if you come here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

At BIT Mesra for our departments many cpre companies like Tatva Chintan, Laxmi Organics and Kanoria Chemicals were among some listed companies that came for placements. Luckily we are less in numbers and therefore 90% students from our batch were placed from here. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters from US.
