Course Curriculum Overview

3

the curriculum is completely depended on your choice and liking as there is a system called ffcs in which u can select your own faculty and timetable but the catch is by the end of 4 years you must atleast complete a credit amout of 162 depending on which course u took*.so an average of 22 credits per semester and depending on the subject it will be approx 2-3 credits so you have to make a timetable worth 22 credits which is relly hectic as we have to cram as many classes as possible for one semester usually classes go till 6-7pm max if you decided to take 22 credits in one semester but u can choose for less credits but u gotta compensate for that in the later semesters

Internships Opportunities

5

We get a lot of intership offers in our college mail and those are really interested can join I have done my hardvrd CS50 course and done a few interships, one example for a company called Honeywell, at the end of the year you will be given placement tests from the respective company and if you pass there will be rounds based on your company, usually only the bulk hiring companies give rounds of test including aptitude based test few companies liike honeywell only have one round of exam and a HR interview

Placement Experience

4

The placments in our college are really good even though there a little no of recruitment limits from every company placements are easier and better here as this year there were about 300 companies which came to recruit us. If there were no placements my plan was to do masters abroad probably in singapore or switzerland. The highest package last year was for 1.1 crore and the average package was around 9.9 lpa you need a minimum 6cgpa to get placed but i would recommend atleast 8 cgpa to be a safe side of better companies

Fees and Financial Aid

As an NRI student I am paying extra usually the maximum fees payed by a indian resident student if he gets category 5 in the viteee exam will be around 36-40 lakhs for 4 years including the hostel and mess fees, and since I am an NRI I am paying around 48lakhs for 4 years this also an approx depending on what hostel room you take ( 4 bed A/C , 6 bed A/C etc..). My batchmates fees is also around he same since most of them are NRI's. And coming to scholarships there are quite of lot of them some of them are VITEEE scholarship given under "GV school development programme" which is given to 456 students and a total amount of 3,89,64,500 which if a student gets a rank of 1 to 10 in the viteee exam a 100% scholarship will be given, rank 11 to 50 75% scholarship will be given and for merit cum need, we have siddhart merit cum need endowment which is around 20,000/-

Campus Life

5

The campus life here is amazing and the infrastructure is really good, yes there are a few old buildings and they are getting renovated, and it has its own downsides are we students have to walk alot due to the distance between the hostel and the college but you can own a cycle and there are buses which you can use for transport which costs 20/- per travel which is decent in my opinion. There are a numourous number of clubs to join and a lot of festivites you can join and participate in but most of them are really underwhelming to me, personal opinion ig,on extra curricular activites are really good i was disappointed with the football ground as a football fantic I atleast expected a turf ground but it was just a plain grass fround used by cricket players usually.

Hostel Facilities

5

The rooms provided are like OK...it depends upon hostel to hostel as newer built blocks have better rooms if you choose 4 bed and get the newer block ( which is only for freshers ) its nice and clean but for the older blocks even for 4 bed you get bunk beds and it feels soo outdated and scary when a heavy person is sleeping on top of you, you can keep your life at risk. The wardens are like our grandparents they are strict but they dont do much, they do their routine checks there are a lot of fines though so you have to be careful when u bring any electronic gadgets like iron box etc. Hostel meals are also depended on the block you choose as each block has different cattering service you gotta try everything and find out

Admission

I have applied to VIT , SRM , SSN, Anna university and madras university i have applied to other colleges in bangalore out of 10 colleges I have applied to I got rejected by SSN i take it as a rejection as we didnt get a reply back after applying for admission.I chose tamil nadu due to personal reasons over banglore and comparing VIT, SRM and anna universities VIT was the clear winnner in every way, better placements, better campus facilites and better diversity and exposure.and about the admission process was pretty simple as you just apply to join vit and you have to pay an caution deposit and your done just take the VITEEE exam and depending on your rank you will be alloted to a better campus branch

Faculty

3

the faculty to student ratio is decent its not too much and its not too great, the student relationship with the faculty is very different depending on the teacher itself some teachers are very strict and unapprochable while some are very chill and friendly.Im happy that from 2nd semester of the 1st year we have something called the ffcs in which we can choose our own timetable and faculty so I had the luck to choose some of the good teachers but in my first semester I had really bad teachers and due to this I had to re-register my chemistry course the the faculty was too arrogant and refused to give marks even though the answers were correct. In VIT there are 3 main exams which are CAT( 1 & 2 ) and the final exam of 100 marks FAT and we have a few small quizzes here and there during the semester and another important thing marks are REALLY REALLY important in this college and it is relatively grading, it has its own pros and cons

Interview Experience

4

We had a written test called VITEEE which any person can take and depending on the rank you willl be given a branch usually higher the rank the more probable you are to get a seat with your choosen course in that branch. VITEEE is an mcq test for 90 minutes it tests your caluculation speed and critical thinking its somewhat easier than JEE. there is only one round in some cases there is an interview round you can usually prepare for this exam from yt channels are they cover, its just grade 12 syllabus and slight JEE mains

Night Life

5

The Nightlife in VIT is really chill it has become better over the years the curfew timings DID NOT change at all tho its pretty early but it doesnt make a lot of difference anyways the library closes off by 8pm and there is a night library which is open till 12am but we usually get kicked out by 11:30 and girls have to leave earlier the college is pretty strict with girls timings for them they should be back in the hostels by 8pm and boys by 9pm. The regular free gym is diabolical its overcrowded and some poeple just take the equipment back to their hostels, there are a few paid gyms which you can use which is way better but they cost around 3000-4000 per semester. there are a lot of places to hang out in vit they might get boring over these 4 years but atleast better than having nothing, we have a dominos right inside of our campus which is nice ig ( they are overpriced )

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.
