What Students Say
Likes
- The teachers and staff are super friendly. There's no ragging. It's a safe space for a socially awkward person. There's a mentor system in case of issues. Good placements and syllabus
- Every bathroom has a sanitary pad dispenser
- Very neat and clean. There's also a lot of trees.
Dislikes
- There isn't a good infirmary or a pharmacy in the campus.
- The College is in an industrial area. The inside of the College is great, but getting there is a journey.
- Classroom, office, and workshop are miles away from each other. I suppose it's great excercise.
Course Curriculum Overview
More than half of the syllabus for FAD deals with hands on experience. This makes us really confident in handling materials and enable applied thinking. This is the very part that drew me into this course.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the course B.Des there's a few additional purchases a student must do. The curriculum focuses on art, and sketching skills a lot in the first year, and students are given a list of various materials that are to be bought. These supplies all together cost around 10,000 rupees. It's not necessary to buy all of them, but if you're a day scholar, then it's advised to do so. The fees for this course is quite low compared to many other colleges. The workshop has a lot of amenities and facilities. Definitely worth it. The college does not advertise it's scholarship availability well. Hardy any information was given to us.
Campus Life
There are a couple of fests, our major fest is Akaira. As a fresher I'm yet to participate, and get to know of the various extracurricular activities. There are sufficient libraries, computers and labs in the college.
Admission
I had applied to NID I qualified, but was placed in NID Assam. My family was against me going so far away, so I had to decline the offer. I was also eligible to go to Pearl university, and Presidency University, but declined again since ramaiah had a better placement guarantee and lower fees. We had to write an online test and pass the minimum mark criteria on our CBSE boards to be eligible.
Faculty
The faculty for FAD is great. Very approachable. I liked my English professor the best. Her classes were very engaging. I didn't particularly hate any faculty member. There are two exams per semester. A few written, and the other are in the form of a jury with external invigilators. We're always given proper training before tests, so the failures are minimal, and those who do fail, are mostly those who fool around. The syllabus is relevant to the curriculum but it's a shame that handicrafts was removed this year.
Night Life
I'm a day scholar, and mostly make my way straight home after class. The college is in an industrial area, so one should travel a little in order to go somewhere fun. There are canteens inside the college where students usually loaf around when they're free
