Insights on VIT Bhopal University

B. Tech CSE (Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics) course has core subjects such as forensic chemistry, digital forensics and its principles, etc are right now in demand and it will see a rise in its market in upcoming future which influenced my decision to chose this coruse. It prepareus for real world applications. Subjects like calculas shouldn't be included in this curriculum.

Generally, students apply for internships in 3rd year in our university as university allows students to opt for experential learning in which students can go back to their home towns and then can do lectures online and do the insternships at the same time. University is also in partnership with Oracle and Wipro so students are generally selected as interns in these companies.

From 7th Semester i.e. 4th year, the students are eligible for campus placements. Various companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Cisco, Oracle, Wipro, Infosys, etc. visits the campus in addition to these Oracle and Wipro are in partnership with the university which helps students for internships. Highest package in 2023 was 1.01 Cr per annum and lowest was 9 LPA and average is 14 LPA. Based on the students who are eligible for campus placements, around 80-90 percents students are placed, I plan to opt for campus placements.

The yearly fees that I am paying is 200100 INR and caution fees is 15000 INR which is refundable in depending on the national university norms. There is no reservations so fees are paid depending on the fee category you have, fee category is based on your merit in VITEEE entrance exam of the institute. Some of my friends have 350000 INR (Category-2) and some have 500000 INR (Category 3 or 4). To opt for scholarships, there is some eligibility criteria for example one of the criteria is that the annual income of the family should be less than 200000 INR.

The main fest of the University is ADVITYA, which is generally held in between February and April. Winter fest in conducted in every December and various fests depending on the festivals. From academic textbooks, guides/digest, novels, comics to thesis. Every classroom consists of wi-fi routers, white boards and a projector and depending on the teacher, these equipments are utilised. All clubs are mainly divided into two- technical and non technical clubs, all extra curricular activities comes under non technical clubs including sports. There is a multi purpose hall for basketball, football and badminton, recently football ground was improved as per for cricket, nets are really good but the ground is not very good.

Every room has a wi-fi router and router speed is good, 1mb/s and online games are blocked, online games can't be played using university's wi-fi. Meal quality is very good considering it is a hostel and after every 3-4 months the menu is changed. Each year's fees for hostel is 150000 and it is good.

Other than VIT Bhopal University, I applied for B. Tech + M. Tech CSE (Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics) NFSU Gandhinagar, Gujarat through the entrance exam NFAT and after the attempt I was selected to NFSU Guwahati for the same course, but due to personal issues I chose VIT Bhopal over NFSU Guwahati. Admission process is completely based on the entrance exam VITEEE, then based on your score, everyone is given a rank, based on the rank and the university you opted for (VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP, VIT Bhopal) you're given a fee category.

The faculty to student ratio is one teacher for 70-75 students. Faculty to student realtionship depends on the faculty like some faculty to student relationship is very supportive and some are only formal relationship but all the faculties are approachable. Personally, I liked Dr. Saurabh Bhargava sir, Dr. Neha Choubey ma'am and Dr. Azra Nazir ma'am because of the way they handle the class environment while teaching tough topics and we can ask doubts like anytime. I didn't liked Dr. Dev Brat Gupta sir because of the group projects, my group was not able present what we spent hours for the preparation. Each semester has 2 exams, mid terms and end terms and the difficulty level is intermediate.

Gym is present only in boys hostel block 1 and block 2 and as per cafeterias there are 2 amin cafeterias near academic block Mayuri's and Under Belly, then near Boys Hostel, Cafeteria Dakshin is recently opened which is almostlike a restaurant. Hostel in timings are before 8:30 pm. Famous hangout places inside the campus are Mayuri's Cafeteria, Under Belly cafeteria, then garden area near academic block.
