About NIT PY

The college is new and is rapidly developing with the help of central government budget. You can join here if you're getting only new NITs. Among new NITs, NIT PY is best. One negative feedback about college is the lack of research culture.

I'm computer science student. So I'll be able to say only about CSE. The course structure is decent. It has electives in latest technologies. But there is no honors that students can pursue right now.

There is a placement cell in our college and they take care of everything. The CSE department placements are really good. The median package is 5-6 LPA. Our college also helps in internships. If you maintain good GPA you can easily get internships.

We have 2 main fests in our college. One is technical and the other is cultural. The fests are decent if you compare it to top IITs. Also other small small events are hosted by Students and faculties.

The fee structure is nominal. If your family income is 1-5 LPA you get 2/3 remission in tuition fees. And if it's below 1 LPA you'll get 100% fee remission. Without any remission the college fees is 1 lakh per semester including hostels.

Currently there is no scholarships. But at the time of admission you get instant student loan by SBI. You can take loan upto 95% of college fees. The interest rate in 8% per annum after 1 year of graduation.

As the campus is new the college lacks in this aspect. There's some small labs but for doing some lab classes students travel to the nearby engineering college. New lab worth 20 crores is under construction.

The hostel I'm currently at is new one. There are 4 people in each room and we get ACs and fans. Also we get a table and steel bed. The infrastructure is new and best in class. The food is decent and we get non-veg twice a week.

As the college is new the alumni network is small and less established. But the seniors and alumni are really helpful in helping as much as they can. Most of the alumni are working in tier-1 cities and can be helpful if you go for job there.

I prepared for a competitive exam called JEE. If you get a good rank in JEE mains you'll get seat in NITs and other colleges. If you clear JEE advanced with good rank you will get seat in IITs and other colleges. I did well in mains but got out in advanced. After exam counselling started in Josaa website. I got NIT PY in round 2. Went there to report. Few weeks later admission got over. It's an hassle free process.

The faculties here are well experienced and skilled. For some courses faculties come in contract as the college is still new and there isn't that many. Overall it's better than many colleges in India.
