Likes
- friendly behaviour of seniors, this is the thing that I like most here in this campus which makes us comfortable with them and share our problems.
- its such a beautiful campus and especially in winters you get an awesome view from every corner of the campus, i always prefer to explore the campus and it never disappoints me
- social interactions in this campus ids so good and we have people from all over India , they follow different cultures and we learn a lot from them.
Dislikes
- extreme climate conditions in summer and winter, whether its too hot in summer or too cool in winters
- grading system is too hard, it depends on professor but mostly its so complicated and grades wont be as we expected
- not so good transportation, we have railway station around 15km but if its is airport its 25km with heavy traffic routes from campus
Course Curriculum Overview
In first year we have our template fixed , which means the courses are alloted by institute and we can't choose on Our own interest. Some courses are really good and you enjoy studying them but some courses are like we think "where we can use this in real world" , this is absolutely nothing making sense and why should we study this. However we have to complete The Courses in that semester and we have sufficient time for that.In first year we don't have much academic load on us.
Internships Opportunities
Actually the interviews for internship are done in fourth semester, which is second semester of second year. And then you have to do internship in summer cam. Which comes after third year. Most of the student get internship after third year.. A variety of companies come and offer internships and the step and depends on the role. The actual data of the companies offering internship and there stipend is not released by the college. And as I am a first year student I can't say much about internship process and stipend offered, I have written what i heard from my seniors.
Placement Experience
In our college, placements are offered. And many of the students get a job in that because Many of the students are aware of what are industry requirements And they do internships based on what they are intrested in. Every year. The average package of I.I.T kanpur is around twenty five lakhs. This year we had excellent placements and the official data is not yet out but still its known that average package is around 25-27LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
>fees that I pay is 74k per yr >actually the semester fees(which includes registation and hostel charges) is 33k per year and then tution fees will be 1 lakh per semester(its 0 if you get scholarship offered by IITK which is merit based one) > mess fees is updated monthly in your account >tution fees will be 0 if you belong to reserved category(SC/ST) >tution fees will be reduced to 33% if you provide ITR with less than 1 lakh income
Campus Life
I have enjoyed a lot in the first semester because we had our Sports meet and college cultural fest We enjoyed a lot in that and After that we had inter IIT Sports meet organized in our campus which was successful and iit kanpur was fifth in overall. When it Comes about social interaction The people here are so good but they are always kind and the oldest talk in a polite way. In a club activities we mainly focus On the skills development and we make new friends and Build connections with seniors.
Hostel Facilities
All the first years students will reside in same hostel.The rooms are not so large but Still it's ok. The hostel charges are not too high.They are affordable and the mess food is also not bad actually it's okay. The registration process is not so hectic.We just have to fill Registration form and that's it, but the rooms are previously allotted.And your roommate is decided by the hall office.
Admission
Everyone wants to go to the college which is nearer to their home but unfortunately I didn't get the chance so then I looked for better options and I found IIT Kanpur, as the best one in the choices available for me because when I compared it's statistics of placement and any club activities It was better compared to other IITs. I also Contacted some of my seniors who are in IIT kanpur , They said they had very good time in IIT kanpur I choose to join IIT kanpur. The process of admission is so smooth and it is completely done by JOSAA counselling services .
Faculty
the relation with faculty is so nice here, we are given their office hours to contact them and the ratio of student to professor is around 10:1,personally most of the students like mr.amit kuber who is a profesoor in mathematics but almost every professor here is best in their fields, its nothing like we hate someone but some professors grading system is not so good, so thats the point where students feel low in those courses. >when it comes to exams we have 2 quiizes and mid exams then end semester exam, toughness of exam is almost 3.5/5(roughly)
Night Life
Night time is the best time to Explore the campus. At that time everyone will be in their works And the campus is so Peaceful. And mostly the club activities happen in nights and we do night out. Which is So much fun.
