Honest Review of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Khanapara

Masters Of Arts in Political Science is helpful in continuing my education in Political Science. A Masters degree in this subject will open doors for other academic pursuits. Like NET, SLET, and civil services. The course is not like regular universities, as you do not need to attend classes in an open university. You are provided with SLMs (self learning materials) and teachers conduct online classes to help you clear doubts.

There are not many internships offered by the University. Most of them are to be found in LinkedIn. Internships with stipend are difficult to find. Companies mostly offer certificate of internship instead of stipend.

Being an open university, there are no campus placements. But the University make sure to provide you ample opportunities. Mostly the ones promoted by the government. It conducts seminars with important personalities. After the Masters degree you can give an exam and start your Phd in the same University. Or you can clear NET to get into other central universities. This is if you want to continue in the academic line.

Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University is in Assam. I'm pursuing Masters Of Arts in Political Science in this university. It is an open university which allows you the flexibility of pursuing other educational priorities at the same time. The fees per semester of my course is approximately Rs5600. There are no merit based financial aid. But fees relaxation for EWS.

Infrastructure is good in this University. Although they still need to develop the various centres they have in remote areas. Online library access is available to all students via the university website. They conduct regular seminars with great personalities and encourage students to participate in various government organised students schemes.

I applied to many colleges but my CUET PG score did not get me to any of them. So I made the decision to complete my Masters while I figure out the rest. I took admission in a civil services coaching centre to boost my knowledge and keep myself busy. Basically, instead of taking a gap year I focused on two things simultaneously.

Faculties are quite casual as it is an open university. But they guide students whenever needed and help you out. They conduct regular online classes and guidance sessions. Exams are conducted after every semester. One assignment every odd semester and two assignments every even semester. There are a total of four semesters in the course of Masters Of Arts Political Science.

Admission to KKHSOU does not require any interviews or entrance. You can directly take admission within the notified deadline. Only Phd courses require an entrance exam. Otherwise, admission to Bachelor Degrees and Master Degrees does not require any tests.

It has a huge multi storey campus with good classroom facilities. Being an open university is does not offer hostel facilities. So nightlife is irrelevant. It does have good restaurants nearby. Especially the Khanapara, Guwahati centre of KKHSOU.
