Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculam is well rounded and does prepare students for real-world challenges. The teachers try to make it more practical based learning than all theory. The reearch opportunities paired with the curriculam helped to understand the subject better. The freedom and opportunity to select multiple electives through semesters 4 to 8 allows room for exploring different areas and becoming an expert in them.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are good and there are companies like Jio, EY, Mondelez which hire and provide a decent pay too to the students, The placement committee often ensures all students get internships.
Placement Experience
The campus placemtn procedure begins in the 4th semester itself that is the end of the 2nd year, the college's placement team offers a very comprehensive training program that trains the students in both technical and soft skills. Followed by this the companies start coming in for Internships and Full time opportunity. The previos year companies like KPMG, EY, Mondelex offered roles to students as consultants and trainees.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee was 3,40,000 per annum which included various sub-section fees like mainly the tuition fee, Library access Fee, the infastructure fee and IT and Tech Support Fees. The fees had an approximately 10-12 percent increase every year and was charged every August at the beginning of the academic year. The registration fee included the NPAT entrance exam fee which was technically the application fee too. The fee for the entire Batch was the same, we were all from the general category. NMIMS doesn't grant any scholarships or need basked financial aid.
Campus Life
The main highlight of the college is its vibrant and huge social life. There are various club on campus that means theres a place for everyone- right from technical clubs to business management societies to dance and music teams. Its thriving enviornment wothout any bullying or out of order behaviour.
Admission
- The admission process of NMIMS is pretty straightforward- you give the entrance and based on your performance you get your call letter which has a number given; that is your rank and then according to the rank the college calls the students for one on one counselling where they are given options amoung various branches and can choose and secure a seat on the spot for their chosen program. - The main reason for choosing NMIMS over any other engineeing college in Mumbai was its prime and convienent location of Juhu and the Connectivivity that the college's placement team provides. Being a part of the NMIMS brand opens many doors to work with many industry leaders.
Faculty
- The faculty members were good, they had decent knowledge about the respective subjects but often couldn't communicate their teachings well. - The course structure is the best thing, it allows students to learn different subjects and explore majors which might not come under your degree. For example a EXTC student can learn AI/ML too upon interest. - The exam system is pretty straight forward, per semester there are 2 mid-terms known as M1 and M2 and one final examinations. The grading system include internals and externals.
Night Life
The location of the college is prime and the heart of Mumbai - Juhu which is the centre of a lot of happening cafes, restraunts and theatres. Around the college because of so many students theres plenty of affordable housing in different formats- right from PGs, Hostels to flats on rent. Livivng and studying in Juhu is something every student should experience.
