Course Curriculum Overview
The course was a degree in computer science engineering with a specialization in cyber security and since i was intrigued by cybersecurity and data encryption i decided to take this course the curriculum is very real world application based with frequent purple team exercises and capture the flag an area of improvement wud be to increase the time alloted for labs the exam frequency might seem overwhelming and the toughness of the exams doesn't help but if you prepare for it atleast a week in advance you can perform well
Internships Opportunities
I am still in my first year and dont have that much of idea about the internship opportunities at NFSU but i know a lot of government entities like cbi, cdac, cyber police offer trainings and internships to students the highest stipend being 1.5lakhs and lowest being around 40k.
Placement Experience
Being a dual integrated degree students are elligible in their 5th year for placements Some of the big companies that visit are Meta, Microsoft, Deloitte,etc.....and the placement percentage was about 80% highest package being 68lpa and lowest being 9.5lp I will either take direct placement or opt out of the degree after my btech to pursue my masters abroad although i have not yet decided
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is deducted semester wise. Per semester they charge tuition fee of 65000 and exam fee of 1500 at the beginning of course we had to put down a caution deposit of 7500 that will be returned to us at the end of the course
Campus Life
There is a month long technical event called cybersecurity awareness month celebrated by the school of cybersecurity and digital forensics during this there are multiple technical competition and talks. wide range of books and journals available at library and new journals are issued if requested the computer labs are top notch with each computer having the latest intel processors and almost 32 gigs of ram the sports and extracurricular infrastructure is low but still active with badminton, table tennis and carrom lots of student run communities exist like the book, music and baitak which help build out of class personality.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are 2 sharing ac/non-ac with attached bathroom the meals are off good quality and menu repeats every 2 weeks...the hostel allotment is a headache as very few hostels are available so it is a long waiting list.
Admission
I wrote of number of private and public college entrances and got admission into various colleges but towards the end i decided i wanted a government or government aided college so that left me with mainly 2 options. I could have joined NFSU or taken an ece seat at BMSCE Bengaluru through KCET I decided on NFSU for 2 main reasons 1. It is one of the best schools for Cybersecurity in the country and 2.I wanted to move a little away for home and experience hostel life to build independence
Faculty
There is a pretty decent faculty to student ratio as NFSU was initially setup as a research school the faculty is very approachable and the student teacher relationship depends on the teacher some are very friendly while others prefer you to be very respectfully I like Dr Jay as he was very good at explaining concepts,I especially disliked Dr Ravinder as he would just read off a presentation instead of explaining and he lacked basic communication skills there a total of 4 assesments per semester ta1,midsem,ta2 and endsem
Interview Experience
There was an entrance called the nfat it is a 1.5 hour test with 100 questions eacch question is worth 1 mark with negative marking of 0.25 there is no interview round and the qualifying criteria varies and depends on relative performance of other students as they allot seats based kn on rank
Night Life
The cafeteria closes at 9pm and the library at 11 the hostel has a curfew of 10 30 but special exceptions can be made for birthdays by asking for permission some popular hangout spots are the cafeteria by the fountain and the tapri which is a collection of shops less than a kilometre from the college
