B.Sc. (Hons.) in Zoology is a 3 years undergraduate degree program, this program is mainly designed keeping the recent career opportunities in the diverse fields of zoological development. Zoos, Wildlife parks, and resorts are various major sources of employment for candidates. Apart from these sources there are wildlife channels who also hire BSc in Zoology students.

Placement Experience

It is a degree college based on a general course so there is no topic related to job opportunities but if you study well you'll sure a get a good job of a good salary, that's all.

College Events

There are many event s that are celebrated in our college, for example, Teachers' day, annual function annual sports, different seminars, and meetings. NCC and NSS activities and the birth anniversaries of many legends celebrated.

Fees and Financial Aid

Swami Vivekananda Merit cum means scholarship, which is 18000 thousand per annum for a science student. 12000 thousand per annum for the arts student except this, there is college fees reduced for poor students.

There are extracurricular activities, labs are good, there are sports like cricket, football, carrom, etc. Annual activities also occur in which anyone can participate.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is strong enough. Former President Pranab Mukherjee is one of the alumni of our college. Senior students are also helpful and very supportive too.

Admission

College accepts admission directly in which I visited the college first and applied by filling the form which I bought from the admission counter and submitted it after filling it duly and got the admission.

SXC Kolkata is a gem of a college.

Placement Experience:

Computers are so vast that masters is mandatory and therefore I have certain plans for that. However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

The college offers good placements for economis. Students in their final year are eligible for campus placements and there is a cell dedicated to placements.
