Dislikes
- I think the lecutres are boring a bit and there programming dashboard don't support auto completion.
- every month you have to give offline exam which is sometime feels so frequent.
- I think The campus access should be increased, cause now it is only once in a year.
Course Curriculum Overview
The data science career is going to boom in feq upcoming years because of AI .So i diecided to choose this course. the level of preparation they do of us is excellent with modern tools and technology. I think the lectures should be more engaging. The frequency of exams along with the difficulty level is constand so no need to worry about.
Internships Opportunities
There are tons of internship oppertunities which are available with my college, Companies like tcs, zerodha, angleone provides a good stipend in roles like product manager, data scientist or analyst. I am in 1st year so I don't have knowledge about projects and their outcomes.
Placement Experience
from 3rd year completion students become eligible for placements which is provided through college placement cell and if someone believe that off campus is going to overcome the placement offered through campus then he/she can go with that with ease. Percentage of student getting placement is extraordinary about 100 % but the students who sustained throughout the course are very limite. I have planed to join corporate after getting a degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The iit madras bs degree in data science follows a pay-per-course model , with total fees ranging from 200000 to 300000 based on the pace of completion and category. Foundation level courses cost 4000 - 12000 per couse, while deploma and degree level course range from 10000- 20000 per course. Additional chrges include a one-time registraiton free of 1000, and exam fee of 1000 per couse and a refundable caution deposit of 2000. Scholarships like merit-cum-means (up to 75% reduction) make the program affordable for eligible students. The program's fee structure is affordable and inclusive ,with no other hidden costs or significant annual increases.
Campus Life
Campus (offline) access is very limited on annual fest only, but there are tons of meetups in all over the country very frequent so I think for this online program it is descent and good. It helps us to overcome lonliness and also give oppertunity to collaborate with peers for some joint project. Library is accessible for all students but for that we have to visit the campus which is very far from most of students residence so it does not make any sense. Extracurricular activities are held often, some online some offline and some hybrid. There are many clubs and houses which has very important role in every students academica and personal life because they are source of emmense exposure to diversity.
Admission
I didn't apply to any other colleges because I didn't find any better college which would give me such flexibility in terms of fee and course pace. I didn't applied so I didn't get rejected from anywhere. To get admission in my current college , I had to qualify a qualifier (entrance for this degree) exam which made me eligible for this exam. Only 12th class certificate was required which obviously I have with more than 60 % in maths. Cuttoffs are very easy to obtain. The cuttoff is according to category, for my catogery which is obc I had to obtain at least 40% marks but I get 82% marks and hence passed the qualifier and got the admission letter. Overall the admisssion process and experience was descent.
Faculty
Becuse it is an online course the faculty teacher ratio is excellent , there are many mentors and instructor for doubt resolution. I like Madhavan Mukund sir because he teaches comples topic with great ease and make us feel the topic simple and easy to learn. I don't like the math faculty Dr. Sarang S Sane. He has not so good teaching style.There are 3 exams every 4 month. They are medium level difficult. If you have read the topics and understand it , then it is going to be super easy
Night Life
Since it is online degree there is no such campus life , you can access to gym , cafeterias , libraries but for that you have to visit campus and to visit campus daily is not possible for most of the students.
