What Students Say
Likes
- The quality of infrastructure, campus amenities like 24 hours supply of clean drinking water , full ac campus , good food quality in canteens . Also the library is beautiful
- A lot of educational methods , aids , different teaching methods are used . Seminars , workshops , use of projectors etc.
- Most of the teachers are highly qualified for their jobs
Dislikes
- The attendance system is pretty problematic . It's not just the fact that student must complete 75% attendance per course . The classes per course could be 20-80 classes anything .
- Student under 75% can only sit in exam with the maximum score of B grade even though he or she had genuine problem of not attending the classes
- Too much assignments around exam time usually hamper our study experience before exam
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose applied psychology to learn deeply about human being , their feelings , pain , choice of life . Applied psychology prepare you for various worldly applications like practicing as a clinical psychologist, or organisational psychologist , criminal psychologists, etc . Psychology is all about understanding yourself and others and how to be a better citizen to others . It's not just a theoretical subject so I suggest to not use very old experimental methods which are irrelevant to this type and diversity but improve these assessments , tests , experimental methods etc .
Internships Opportunities
I worked in JNM hospital as a psychologist intern . There are other organisations giving internships for psychology student all over the state. Mostly clinics and hospitals . I was assigned to see patients with intellectual disability and assess their level of disability through various tests . There are many other kinds of work in this internship . There was a option of self organised internship or internship under your faculty . Whatever you choose , you must give an official written update every week of your work to your college faculty guide assigned for you and the faculty guide can speak with your industry guide for any suggestions or comments about your along with feedbacks
Fees and Financial Aid
So the fee structure is 3.5 lakh around for 3 years BA degree of applied psychology. It's 50-55 thousand per semester. There are some scholarship categories of student who scored more than 85 percentage in class 12 boards . Amity University has a high fee structure mostly for its beautiful architecture, infrastructure, full ac campus .
Campus Life
My overall experience is really grate. You will find all kind of diversity living and enjoying as close friends with minimum discrimination. Amiphoria is the biggest event in amity with 3 days of non stop cultural fest and 3 nights of either dj night or music night . There are other events like theatromania focusing of acting , mahalaya , cake mixing before Cristmay, sangathan related to sports, and so much more . The range of book is also brilliant. You don't need to buy any study related book related to your course from outside. You can easily get access to the library and borrow the book for 1 week or so. There are clubs like theatre , music , event , dance , art . All working their best for the events
Admission
I was actually searching for a BA honours course in applied psychology in west bengal which takes student from Arts background. Amity University was a great choice in that aspect . Also the fact that amity university really takes anti ragging campus seriously. I was also selected for Adamas university. Though they had Bsc in psychology. So I chose amity over others . The placements are also not that bad . Starting from 3-4 lakhs PA.there are many entrance exam that could be taken or else 50-60% cut off marks . Exams like cuet ,jee etc are accepted here
Faculty
There are more than 30 faculty for psychology department. Some of them are really understand and sweet but there is our HOD Dr D Banerjee and Dr R karmakar . They are real problem and issue for every student . They always put extra classes for no reason at random days and never consider for any student be it a road block , weather emergency or family emergency. There are internal exams for every course , per sem . Written and viva for practical exams if any . External exams per course and online MCQ exams for foreign language.
Night Life
Usually after classes people sit the the cafeteria or the black stone spot for sitting inside the campus . The campus is really beautiful with lot of trees and sitting areas. There are small tapris outside the college which is the most crowded throughout the day .also there is coffee cafe day inside the college campus and coffee house outside the university
