Course Curriculum Overview

4

I wanted to be a doctor as it was my dream since childhood as i showed keen interest in human body I wanted to grasp every knowledge about our body so i choose this course. After completing this course you finally become a doctor and start treating patients and start building doctor- patient relation which is very important if you want to be a doctor. I think that instead of just doing theory persong should study in a practical way which is more effective and lasts long in our memory About exams they are after every two months i think taht if a person is studying regularly than it is easier for them to get good marks in exams as compared to students who just study few days before exams and find it hard to clear them.

Internships Opportunities

4

Under interships we get to work at different departments and in rural areas also so that we can get to know the environment and be used to it we get monthly stipened around 8000-10000 rupees. There are many projects like research, family adoption programme, value education etc.

Placement Experience

3

Students get placement after completing the course only and there is intership also in the last semester Some of the recruiters are fortis hospital novartis and cipla. Highest pachage is 5 lakh per annum Average package is 3 lakh per annum Out of 150 students 30- 40 get placements After getting the degree i plan on doing post graduate course in cardiology and want to become a surgeon.

Campus Life

5

About annual festivals there is arrhythmia which is held in april every year it continues for 20- 25 days It starts with sports tournaments and many performances including dance ,singing and other activities like poetry, debate, rangoli etc. All the books required for study are available in library but you have to keep them carefully in case lost fine is charged depending on th book. Our class is fully air conditioned along with proper lighting. There is smart board and projector in case of presentations and alls the work is sone on it. Blackboard is also there for making diagram and flow charts. We can play all types of sports including cricket, basketball, badminton, football, table tennis, volleyball and many more inter college tournaments are also held. A social group is also there for study purposes and unofficial work in our class.

Hostel Facilities

4

About facilities in room we are provided with 2 beds 2 table chair and 2 almirahs with adjoined washroom there are two fans also and three sources of light. Food ia good in quality and is same like at home And menu changes after every 6 monts Hostel yearly charges are 2 lakh and 3 lakh with AC If i were to rent a pg i will go for the area bhucho khurd which is located nearby and is present at walking distance .

Admission

I applied to government college patiala and government college amritsar but due to high cut off this yesr i couldn't get admission in them so i was left with adesh and gian sagar medical college I chose adesh over gian sagar as there is good facility for post graduate courses as compared to gian sagar and also placements are also more. For admission it is done by baba farid university (as it handles all the medical colleges in punjab) on the basis of neet score card and rank only one exam is accepted and that is NEET . Cut offs increase every year but this year there was a large increase in cut off which lead to difficulty in getting admissions.

Faculty

5

In our class a mentor is assigned to a group of every three students which help us with our academic and personal praoblems. Once a month session is being conducted on mentorship under which problema of every student is resolved. I like all the faculties in our class as all are very nice and kind to us always help us when we are in problem. About exams in a year there are CT 's which are conducted twice and send up which are like pre boards and then finally final exams are there. Regular tests are also conducted in between these About failing exams out of 150 students on average 7-8 fall but after re exams they are also promoted exclusing 1-2 students which repeat the year.

Interview Experience

4

There is a test named Neet on the basis of which admission is given , on the basis of marks obtained and rank given admission is given. There are three rounds of counselling for admission process in the colleges.

Night Life

5

There is well equipped gym in our college along with many cafetarias which remain open till 12o'clock Campus timing are 8 am to 4 pm along with 1 hour break in between . About hostel it closes at 12:00 at night till then we can walk outside(i.e in the park in front of our hostel). About hangout places there is factory outlet in front of university which is the common place for shopping and eating food . The environment is very good and a person can roam freely even at night without any fear.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The new curriculum is too good because now its baaed upon competencies a medical studtent should achieve after graduating, which is necessary so indeed it prepare us for the real world applications The teaching method now used is mostly on ppt's which can be changed to a better mode like using boards to engage student in a better way according to me And the exams ,wether its formative assessment or send ups or the final exams are planned very correctly so that a student can prepare for the finals in a way that it doesn't build up too much pressure on the students
