Likes
- Professors treated us like family. Computer science department has the best faculty. It was a very vibrant campus with a lot of events happening every now and then. You will not miss out on your college life if you study here. IVs were also very nice
- Final year project assistance is provided. Very good placement support is there. Class rooms are air conditioned so we didnt suffer in summers. Unlike other colleges, the do not give sem break, instead they give us two months of holidays every year.
- Every april and may would be a holiday. All festivals are celebrated. It is a very inclusive campus. You get the best food from SHC canteen. The college infrastructure is beautiful. Thelake view of SHC campus has a seperate fan-base.
Dislikes
- Pass mark scheme they follow was kind of unfair when compared to other colleges. Here you have a certain pass mark for your internals which you have to meet and the same with external exam also. The real problem is that the final pass mark required
- for you to pass in a particular subject is a few marks greater than the sum of the other two pass marks. Or in simple words you can say you will fail even if you get just pass mark in both internal and external examinations as you might not have gott
- the total pass mark required to pass that subject. Condonation is another thing that can be real pricy here so its better if you keep up your attendance above 75%.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is not very much updated Fculty was skilled enough to link the stuff in textbooks with real life scenearios which made it easy for us. Maybe they can start out by updating the syllabus and including AI/ML in depth. Study leaves can be longer since we dont get sem holidays.
Internships Opportunities
One mandatory internship is to be done by 3rd semester Either you can find one on your own Or the department will assist you in finding an internship programme The internship certificate is to be submitted before coming to college before sem 4
Placement Experience
Placements stat from 4th sem onwards. Accenture, airtel, orion, EY Gds etc. hired this time 2LPA is the average package In my batch 90% of the students went for higher studies Most of them who got jobs, got in through campus placement
Fees and Financial Aid
Total fee is 2.5L. Additional charges: caution deposit: 5k (one time refundable at the time of reliving) Exam fee: 1.2K per semester Scholorship money is refunded Merit quota need not pay donation for BCA seat SC/ST category fees are reduced by means of various scholorships Per sem fee is around 42,000/- Exam fee will undergo a potential increase if it is paid late
Campus Life
Many department - wise events happen annually Mini events also happen every now and then SH events is a whole mood Library is super impressive All facilities are up to the mark If you are skilled you will get into anything and everything here cause SHC makes sure to leave its mark wherever they go
Admission
First of all, all the other colleges i applied to were in banglore. My first aspect of consideration was distance to home. This was closer to my place so I reached a conclusion that I will look for colleges in kochi. SHC's reputation is pretty robust and I always wanted to be a part of this college. Unlike the other colleges I applied to, SHC has a better syllabus with lesser fee.
Faculty
Faculty is a 10/10 considering all other terms. They treat you like family. I have enjoyed their approach towards students. They won't make you feel left out or dumb. They have beem super supportive in all aspects. I would rate their knowledge in subject an 8/10.
Night Life
Entry is restricted in the night unless there is some program happening Hostel facility is outside college campus Open gym is there by the lake and another gym us there next to parking Lake view is the leisure point for students Professors even set up outdoor classes at times for fun There is a cafe inside There are vending machines
