Course Curriculum Overview

4

Its a nice course and personally i like the way it is being taught here. Teachers are quite experienced amd make learning a fun process. The experience could be made better by inculcating education with technology and use of projectors frequently. Exams range from medium to difficult and are quite lenghty and we get 3 hours to finish them

Fees and Financial Aid

At Punjabi University, Patiala, my yearly fees are approximately ?40,000. The fee structure includes tuition, development, lab, and other compulsory charges. Scholarships are available for economically weaker sections, SC, ST, and OBC students, offering up to 50% tuition fee waivers. Single girl child students can also avail of concessions. Other categories, such as Management, may have higher fees. Scholarships like merit-cum-need are accessible for deserving students. Overall, the university provides financial support for eligible candidates, ensuring quality education at an affordable cost.

Campus Life

5

Youth fests are held every year for 4 days straight. Along with that book fests are also held. Library is really really diverse and you could find nearly any book from any genre. There are many clubs you could join like dance club music club theatre debate club etc thus making college life even more fun

Admission

I'd also applied to a few colleges in chandigarh however they didn't have my course. Admission process is not that complicated here and you need to have above 60 percent in 12th grade to get admission here.

Faculty

5

Faculty is quite good and approachable they are very much active and interact nicely with students there are around 5 senior head teachers in my course and nearly 10 phd scholars who are also there to guide the students. Exams are held once the semester ends and there are mid semester exams before the end sems. Almost all the students are able to pass the exams. Overall its a great course and faculty is really nice.

Night Life

4

Night life is amazing and you should definitely experience it. Gyms and cafeterias are open till 8 at night while livrary is open 24/7. You will find students hanging out at night in campus with there friends or studying in library.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As i have opted the course B.Pharmacy! I rate the course as optimal, neither too bad nor too good, its medium! Now comes on teaching method, some teachers are really well and good and few are those who does not teaches but only writing writing, thats it, they will not explain at all! And one thing they should change is that All Courses except B.Pharmacy in Chandigarh University have the criteria to pass the student even below the 40% only or the half of the highest number scored by the topper in the class, and for Bpharmacy its minimum requirement to pass the exam is 50%, Oh My God! This needs to be changed, Now every year, in Bpharmacy, the overall 80% students are getting Compartments (Back/Fail) in the subjects, but the University is not understanding it all. So this should be changed as earlier!

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
