Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is very irrelevant to the practical aspects of medical field. Every single subject starting from first year to final year is relevant and needed for a doctor to practice medicine in his everyday life. the curriculum is set by RGUHS and the textbooks that every student uses is also very relevant to the examination that we write. This curriculum is what is the foundation for a doctor, even though he ends up doing super speciality. This is standardised throughout India and throughout the nation. Every medical student studies, the same subjects and almost the same textbooks. So I think curriculum wise it is very standardised.

Internships Opportunities

5

One year compulsory internship has to be done in your own hospital that is Bowring and Lady Carson Hospital, Bangalore. It was of duration 365 days and you will be paid 30,000 per month. You will be rotating through various departments in that one year, which consist of three months in community medicine, one and half months in general medicine, Obg surgery and paediatrics, respectively and two weeks, each in minor subjects, like psychiatry, dermatology, and anaesthesia. internship is where you will know which subject you like so internship in Medicine, and in our college is extremely good, extremely efficient, and will give you a clear picture of what you want to do further in life

Fees and Financial Aid

1st year fee- ?60,000 2nd yr fee- ?60,000 3rd ye fee- ?56,000 4th yr fee-?87,000 Exam fees per year- ?1000 Additional admission fees-?10,000 at the time of admission. Campus Life

5

Annual fest is conducted every year and it is called or really on, and then there will be a Kannada Habba which is called Ujjwala and then there will be a Ganesha festival, and then there will be a ethnic day, These are the cultural events held throughout the year every year, coming to Sports. There will be one sports day for all the various sports that are played in our country. The library is world-class, which has been recently renovated and is equivalent to any foreign university Library with a special lounge as well. Campus, life is extremely good

Admission

I chose this college because this is one of the top in Karnataka right now. I had applied to over 50 other colleges, and this was my third choice of the college. First choice being Bangalore medical College, second choice being Mysore Medical, College and third choice being this one, I couldn't get the other two because of my ranking, I secured an AIR of 13,000. Apart from these two colleges, I had got a confirmed seat in all the other colleges, including reputed Kiims in Hubli. But I chose this college because of the hospital. It is associated with Bowring and lady Curzon Hospital which is over 150 years old and the patient load is very high. The professors there are highly experienced and renowned. It is one of the most respected and prestigious hospitals in Bangalore and in Karnataka , where you get wide range of cases from all over the country. The admission process is through neat UG and then through KEA counselling, Karnataka counselling. based on your performance in Neet UG, which is an entrance examination held throughout the nation. You are allotted a rank and then you have to enter your options of various different medical colleges and based on your rank, you will be allotted one college. I would like to tell that a good score in neet UG is around 630 and above for you to be able to secure a good government college seat

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is about 1:3. Since it's a multi specialty hospital, there definitely is higher staff to student ratio as they have to cater to hundreds of patients everyday. But in my opinion the staff load is less compared to Bengaluru medical college and a lot of work burden falls on to the post graduates. The 1st and 2nd year faculties are very approachable and kind, they make sure you fit in mentally. The 3rd and 4th year staff aren't that approachable given that their main priority are patients and hospital work and not undergraduate students. There will be 3 internals consisting of practical and theory, there will be one university exam which is the main exam for the year. The university exam will be corrected by the university board and not by the internal faculty so that is not dependent upon the colleges faculty, whereas the internal corrected by your own professors, the internal marks also do not Matter for your end year result. Around 4 to 5 students per batch failed to clear the university exams, but they do make it to the next year by clearing it in the supplementary exams, which is held within one month after the University exams.

Night Life

3

as it is associated with hospitals and during internship, you will have to do night duty. You will obviously have a lot of night life, but it will be hectic to hang out. There are a few spots but not a lot of great student. Hangout spots are available next to our college. Boys hostel doesn't have any entry and closing time, but Girls Hostel closes at 9 PM, and you will have to take special permission to enter after 9 PM, but if you are a doctor, who is on night duty, you can come at any time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very comprehensive and relevant for exams but not for real world applications. I feel let the parts of body I was specially fascinating so I like anatomy very much and we also got a very good teacher, the curriculum is very good for examinations however the real wall applications of this curriculum is very little, they should be more real life applications and whatever the latest technology than studies are happening the student should get the latest info about them, timing between two exams in an internal semester should be a little more such as a day or two because we do not get time to prepare the subjects curriculum very well for the examination.

There is no such improvement is required. We don't have to give soo much exam but the syllabus we have to cover its not much
