Remarks

Admission to this college is based on NEET exam. Based on the score students are selected for the course. I got admission through All India Quota. We have to apply through MCI website. And based on the NEET all India ranking students are selected. Compared with Kerala, here course fee are high. Students who are residing in Karnataka have separate state quota (85%), which we have to apply through state website.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

From 2019 batch onwards RS4 new curriculum has started. According this 4 years of course plus one year internship followed by one-year of mandatory rural service are there. Faculties and other staffs of our college is very supportive. Faculties are very interactive with students. Very skilled, supportive professors are available here. About exam, students have to score minimum 50% to eligible for next studies. From first year onwards clinically oriented questions, MCQ pattern questions, essay type questions are there. Students should have 75% attendance for writing exam.

Internships Opportunities

4

After 4 years of study we have to do one year internship followed by one year mandatory rural service. The first batch of students of our college has passed out this year. They are doing their house sutgency now. According to them there is hours of huge work with very few off. Students can acquire a very good experience from here. Mainly Co operation among staffs, professors, seniors are highly notable in our college.

Placement Experience

3

The first batch of students is passed out in this year from our college. Now they are doing their house sutgency. Besides they are preparing for their pg studies. Most of the students will opt for higher studies like MS, MD, etc. Our hospital is average with average cases. And specialty hospital construction work is going on.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure while is somewhat costly. Course fee while I joining was 75,000 Rs. Per year. And hostel rent is 9000 Rs. Scholarships are available for students. For Karnataka resident students, student state scholarship is available ( upto 60000). For non karnataka students and minority caste National scholarships are available under Central scheme (upto 30,000). These scholarships are based on some strict criteria.

Campus Life

3.5

Life at the campus is average. Cultural and sports events are started fro this year. College provides a nice infrastructure with nice lecture halls, laboratories with the best equipment, library with 24 hours working study hall, huge auditorium. Textbooks, recent medical journals, digital library are available here. Youth red cross is the only club going on here. There is lack of club activities and social group activities here besides academic activities.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities are available for every students with student mess. There are 3 students in a room. It is somewhat congested in the room. All rooms are attached with bathroom. Hostel rent is 9000 per year. Besides we have to pay electricity bill that cost around 4000 per year. There is student mess facility here. Most of the days veg meals are available except 2 days non veg meal. As our college is located top of the hill in Madikeri morning and evening scenary from the hostel is awesome. We really enjoy this experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
