Course Curriculum Overview

3

Microbiology, biology was what I opt for but due to the sep system according to the government our batch was given 3 major and chemistry was an extra added major by the college I chose this course as I like studying about microorganisms and more. As of now everything they are teaching is helping me for my higher education and maybe I can achieve more because few of the teachers guide us what to do next and how to puraue with it. Few teachers really have to work hard on their communication and learning techniques. Sometimes what they say could cause a sensitive pain and the way they behave is completely inappropriate. PowerPoint presentations should be given to us after every unit completion Exams are conducted twice a semester and with it we also have class internal assessment marks with pia and more and exams are conducted in a moderate level

Internships Opportunities

4

I don't not have a lot of idea about the internship opportunities provided in the college as I am in the first year and still learning, but my seniors have told me that there are few opportunities in internship in the college associated with a lot of companies.

Fees and Financial Aid

I pay 80,000 per year for my particular course and the fee overall also depends on the second language we opt for A few of my friends with the same course have different fee structure as their second language are additional English, and other foreign languages. The people who are not from Karnataka have to pay I guess 5000 extra and for foreigners the fee structure is also more than 1 lakh Fee structure varies according to course. I have no idea about scholarships but yes scholarship notices are often sent in the class group.

Campus Life

4

There are two major fests in our college namely prathiba which is conducted around October and visages which is conducted around February. We have a library where the book facility is huge and we can find every book or journal we are looking for We have a projector and a screen on every class and also a green or a black board every class also have notice boards and the class is huge and medium where every student can sit freely in the provided desk and bench We have multiple events conducted and multiple stalls for students outside every day sports NCC and nss is widely open to everyone but with the selection process Students in our university run many association which is a legacy remained from years together now, that helps every student come out and speak and overcome all their social fears.

Admission

I chose this college as most of my cousins and also my sibling had studied in this college and also we knew that the college is now turned into the first ever public private university of India.. I had also applied for Jain University and Christ University Bangalore but because of financial crises I had to eventually opt St Joseph's University,I wasn't rejected from any college I applied to After we apply for the university,we have to undergo an online or an offline interview and for some courses we have to try entrance exam, but I gave an interview and not any entrance exam the cut-off requirment is maybe 60%-65% and above

Faculty

The faculty members are pretty much approachable. But I noticed that most of the teachers do not know to talk in a proper English which is a problem to foreigners who've come here to study as they do not understand. The chemistry department is very approachable and lends help anytime to all the students equally Biology and microbiology department is sometimes very confusing and i don't like some teachers explaining We have 6 semesters in 3 years and each semester we have two exam namely mid sem and end sem exam The difficulty level is moderate but sometimes It can be difficult too The course curriculum is 92% relevant according to me.. The students are more in the campus and teachers are divided equally to all the students of every year

Night Life

5

There is a gym in our college and it can be used by students who have access to it, there are 2 canteens in tota. One which is main and the other which is a small one and we have a small area for garden and an area for aquarium..There is boys hostel invthe campus itself and a message area for the boys living in the hostel. The timings of the college is 7 am -9:45 pm I guess. Inside the college we have Banyan tree, bleachers, magis canteen, arrupe sitting area and aquarium spot while outside we have the fresh Udupi juice centre, desi vdesi,5 star chicken, ydh canteen, and small stalls around. The locality is pretty safe to walk around as there are a lot of PGS around which keeps the streets pretty busy and safe for everyone to walk around.

Other Applied Colleges

Jain University - [JU] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biotechnology)

Because the few structure of the college did not match with my college fee budget. The fee structure was too high compared to St Joseph's University

Students become eligible from the 5th semester. The university also conducts placement drives and skill development workshops. Out of the various companies, some of the reputed ones include Goldman Sachs, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, De Shaw, etc. The average package is around 7 to 8 lakhs but 60% students opt out from placements for further education. I plan to study a master's degree in business economics after my undergraduate studies.

There is no such thing as placements for now (in 1st year here) but in our second year, we have placement support here. We have compulsory internship at our Second year. We only have 2 batches, 1st Year and 2nd Year. But for now, among our seniors 60% of them hold internships and others are either building something or scaling their skills. For now, we don't have any placement records but according to scaler academy, it will be aroung 24 Lakhs.
