What Students Say
Likes
- Big Campus & Canteen: Campus is surrounded by greenery as it has been constructed in the forest area I suppose. You may enjoy the fresh air and long walks. Students have to bring vehicles to travel within the campus.
- Sports: You will have badminton courts, basketball courts, and big cricket ground. Many sports events are organised within the campus.
- Clubs: Students could join any clubs based on their interests like: coding, techs, arts, crafts, singing, dance, theatre, etc.
Dislikes
- Poor washrooms: Even bearing such hefty fee from the students, the campus still couldn't fix the washrooms for the 3 years after my admission.
- Weak administration: The Student admin and finance office had poor coordination such that us students used to run in circles for the approvals, stamps, and fee payments due to their negligence.
- No sympathy or support: During pandemic, when students were going through the financial losses and loved ones' demises, the college pressured to pay for full fee. They seem to care more about fee/reputation then the well-being of students.
Course Curriculum Overview
We were taught Communication, Networking, Semi-conductors, Logic Gates, Introduction to C, etc in First Year. Then Discrete Mathematics, Operating Systems, DSA and Programming Concepts in Second Year. Finally, AI, IOT, Java programming, Software Engineering, Multimedia and Group Project in the Final Year. These subjects were moderatly helpful in getting introduced to the digital world and knowing the programming complexities. I struggled with AI and C/C++ programming as I was more inclined to be proficient at Java programming and understand the process of Software Development in general. Final Semester project was required for the final semester submission and I built a JDBC application 'Placement & Internship Cell' for practicals.
Fees and Financial Aid
Paid Rs 50k per semester (approx) and the fees never reduced even at the end semester which is said to be the project-only semester. Based on other junior reviews, the college seems to increase their fees after every graduation year.
Campus Life
Freshers party used to organise for the newcomers in the college, and usually they go good. Farewell party are organised for the final year students who will be graduated from the college and they also are managed well by the juniors. Library had outdated books (students were interested to read also). Sports events are organised in the campus and some students also take part for the inter-college contests. In terms of skill-development, professors were least involved with the students. Students have to do all by themselves: learn programming, practice, understand different technologies, rethink and reshape their career choices etc where the professors' guidance are needed the most.
Admission
I was interested in BCA course and was searching for the colleges. The problem is, there are very few BCA colleges in the state and this was one of them. Although there were Amity, Sharda, SGT University, etc but by comparing their fee structure, placement records, crowd and other reviews with Jamia Hamdard, I selected this college for my BCA course.
Faculty
Teachers were ok. They taught, marked the attendence and left the classroom after each lecture. Although I saw some professors being helpful to one of my friends so I can't say my judgement about the teachers as absolute. There are some professors who were knowledgeable and good at teaching their subjects. There are some who were egoistic and rude to students. I have met both of the kinds. Exams were of moderate level. I don't like BCA faculty much.
Night Life
Well there was gym, cafe canteen so hostellers can tell well about that instead of day-scholar like me. Although it used to be pretty dark if we used to depart from the college in late evening and I noticed some security issues within the campus as well.
