Likes
- The teachers are very helpful. The whole faculty have always been very helpful and supportive.
- The lab is well maintained with everything needed.
- The placement cell is also good. They bring many companies and present many other placement opportunities.
Dislikes
- The experience of Library is horrible. The library needs to be upgraded. The books are very much outdated. Many books are not available so they give pdf copies or links to those. And the available books are from 2010 or 2012 like from that back.
- The computer labs are not equipped with AC. In summer it's very difficult to concentrate .
- The canteen is there but no so full of options. And newrby shops are atleast 10 mins away. But new shops are opening recently.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was not so good but filled with some unnecessary subjects like EVS, softskills, english etc. But the curriculum is set by the University and college has nothing to do with it. In college only some of the syllabus were completed but the rest of the syllabus is on your own. As the syllabus is not so difficult its easy to cover up for exam, so the exams were not difficult at all.
Internships Opportunities
Not many internships options were there by the college except the aicte internship. But one student needs to find internship on their own. Most of the internship by the college were paid internship meaning you need to pay the company for internship and the certificate which was not worth it for me.
Placement Experience
The placement is good in this college. In our cse department around 8 to 9 people including me got placed. In ece department as I heard almost 20 people got placed. Many companies like Capgemini, tech Mahindra, Deloitte and many start-up companies came. Deloitte, Bentley and some other companies came but didn't recruit anyone. Highest package this year was 7LPA. After recession the Percentage of students getting placements decreased. I got placed in tcs and now will be joining.
Fees and Financial Aid
My course was CSE with course fee of 246000 for 4 years. I used to have SVMCM scholarship of Rs. 60000 per year. And the college administration was really helpful regarding the scholarship for submission. There was a caution fee of 5000 to be deposited at the time of registration which can be withdrawn after the course is completed. And before exams a fee of 1200 to be paid to the university. West bengal student loan scheme is there. And other scholarships are also available.
Campus Life
College annual fest is organised in june and there are JIS samman organised and also sports tournaments are also organised. The classrooms are equipped with CCTV but no AC but new buildings are constructed and probably AC will be installed there as well as in old building and also Lift facility is there.
Admission
I applied for GNIT and this college. But I got chance in this college prior and one of the my known senior passed out of this college and he told me this college would be good and also cheaper than GNIT.
Faculty
In our CSE department there were 5 to 6 teachers. 4 out of them were really helpful. Before semester exams there are 4 internal exams/ CA. Only 1 xm is online through MAKAUT portal. One was assignment based and one was report based and one was written. To pass the semester xm.. a student needs to score at least 30 out 70 and pass successfully 2 CA exams out of 4. The exams were not so difficult but in our batch 3 people failed but they cleared their supply.
Night Life
Gym wasn't there I don't know if in new building blocks it'll be available or not but playground was there. Badminton court was there. The canteen was okayish but nearby shops are not nearby at al. Boys and girls hostel are available but I don't know the fees but most of the students live outside college area in mess or house on rents shared.
