Course Curriculum Overview

2

The reason for choosing this course us that the curriculum provide really good exposure about the subject. But about the real world application I would say it not upto mark. The areas that should be changed is to provide feild work more than theoretical classes and reduce the examination marking.

Internships Opportunities

1

There will be no stipend for psychology internships as we have to pay for our internship purposes. However you may be able to find some places which could provide you stipends but for that you have to do by yourself. There is no such projects

Fees and Financial Aid

Per semester for masters in psychology fees will be Rs 18750 ie will be Rs 37500 per year. Caution deposit is Rs 1000, Rs 2000 for Admission fees, Rs 2200 for university fee and Rs 3250 for other aminities. There is no fee changes for different categories. Scholorships such as Jindal and e grandz scholorships are available for PG students. Jindal is applicable only for students with merit admission. Scholorship amount vary depending upon the eligibility and marks obtained.

Campus Life

3

After my arrival, since we had a landslide in one of our districts in kerala we haven't conducted our freshers day in memory of the passed ones. Usually Onam program, freshers day or college day, union day, arts day, christmas celebrations are conducted along with department programs. Library provide a moderate amount of books but are willing to restock if students ask. They also provide digital library for the students use. For PG psychology classrooms they provide projecter. Extracurricular and sports activities are really low. An active NSS unit , Psychology association, commerce association, economics association and english association is there

Hostel Facilities

3

6 sharing rooms are mostly seen. There also Exists 5,4 sharing rooms. The meals are really good as it includes chicken, beef, egg, along with vegetables curry. But as we eat for long we would feel bored. Registration for the hostel is done through college office and as of affordablility, Rs 1500 for room rent and Rs 106 for food per day. There also exist other PG s outside the college

Admission

I have applied in MAHE and got placed in MAHE Bangalore for Msc Applied psychology but was not able to go due to financial issues as the fees there is high. I attended Christ banglore entrance but was unable to attend their interview as I was having my undergraduate practical exams on that day. The admission process in our college is simple. Just go the the MG UNIVERSITY kottayam website and create a MGCAP id and register through the window providing all your details and allotment process takes place. You will get admission according to your marks in Undergraduate.

Faculty

4

Faculties are all approachable and is helping. They are willing to clear all our doubts and maintain a friendly nature with students. I would say Mr Akhil T Chandran, Nila Sasikumar and Chithradevi are my favourite faculties as they are always ready for all our needs and provide insights for our future development. New faculty Ms Sreeleksmi mam is a bit backward compared to other facilities as she always keep grudges against students. You will be having 4 semester exams but before each semester exam you will be having an internal exam and a model exam. If model exam is not possible, then will be having 2 internal exam. Course curriculum is good as it provides wide range of activities to be done but when it comes to examination, it is hectic as the semester exam will be conducted for 150 marks and the time for completion is 3 hours which is really hard to cope up with

Night Life

1

There is a gym but is not working. There is a cafeteria which provide basic foods and have a college canteen with basic food. Provides both girls and boys hostel in which girls hostel is inside the college and boys hostel is near the polytechnic college which is outside the college. The timing is from 10 am - 4pm in which frst hr from 10-10.50 am, second hr from 10.50 -11:40 am, 11:40-12:00 break, 12-1pm 3rd hr, 1-2 lunch break, 2-3 forth hr , and 3-4 fifth hr. There is much hangout places in the college. The area is safe but the area is full of other state labours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choosed to study msc applied psychology in kerala university. Because it offers my interested specialization ( organizational behaviour) . The course provides three specializations - clinical , industrial and educational. As it is applied psychology it equipes us to become more practical.I wish the placement cell to be more efficient in our university. Because the placements they offers are limited

Remarks:

JEE Rank was the main factor. The facilities like hostel, labs, etc mentioned in the IIT Palakkad website. During the allotment process, one senior girl student of my branch contacted me and cleared all my doubts whether it was small or big, placement details, etc. After the rankings were released, based on the previous years cut-off ranks, I was able to get a fair idea about the colleges I would be able to join among all the IITs, NITs, IIITs. Based on JEE Mains rankings, NIT or IIITs can be chosen. Based on JEE Advance ranking, IIT can be chosen. Also, 2 mock allotment will take place which gives a fair idea of which allotment we will get. These mock allotment will be based on our preferences. We can change them after the mock. Then the actual allotment will start. Once we finalise our preferences and lock them, there will be 7 rounds of allocation. 3 options will be given in each round-Float, Freeze,Slide (details will be clearly mentioned in the website). Once you are allocated a seat in any round, document verification will take place (seat acceptance fee must be paid at this stage).
