Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is kind of alright. They don't cover a lot of topics but they make sure you go through all the topics. Like in physics they won't be teaching you in depth as the topics are from the 10th and 12th standard, so they basically jump from the basics to the medium level, making it tough for students who aren't really good at catching the topics quickly. There are a lot of places where they could improve such as improving on the basics. The exams tak place during the second month of the semesters so if doesn't creates a lot of stress, also the papers are kind of repeated from the past years.

Placement Experience

2

There's not really good campus placements, usually the seniors who have left the college, search for internships outside college and do not really care about the placements as the salary per year is quite low. For Physics students big companies like DRDO and ISRO never really show up. So it's good to go to other colleges for placements after taking a MSc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is quite affordable if you come from a middle class family it'll be high when you're a fresher, around 56k for a year. Then usually say there's no refund but they do refund the admission fees. The fees usually goes down after each year, so it's alright. For me it was 56k for the first year, this year it's 44k. They ask you to pay a certain sum of you aren't from Karnataka which is around 10k, it's counted under the fees only. There are a lot of scholarships mainly aimed at the minority people and also for the Karnataka students.

Campus Life

4

There's a lot of associations in the college which not only includes the students from their backgrounds but also accepts students from various other departments. There are a lot of associations related to languages like German, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and English. You can easily select an association and be a part of it.

Admission

I applied for this college only so I won't be sharing any experience about other colleges but I can say about the admission process which is kind of biased because of the college being run by Jesuit Priests. They do accept the Christian students first specially the minority categories. They accept the local Kannadigas and then for selecting the rest.

Faculty

3

If you're talking about my physics faculty then it definitely lacks a good amount of teachers. You have one good teacher who's the Dean of Physical Sciences but he'll be retiring soon. All the older teachers have left and there's severe lack of experience in the younger teachers. The students numbers are increasing but the quality of teaching is decreasing. The maths faculty will be the worst because of its teachers and their method of teaching. The exams are quite easy as the question paper pattern repeats, also if you're lucky the question also repeats.

Interview Experience

3

No there was just an interview which was quite easy as the teachers didn't really ask any tricky questions plus the atmosphere wasn't that hard to answer the questions also it was an online meeting so the meeting didn't really made me nervous.

Night Life

2

Usually the college hours are till 9pm so there's not much night life. The gym opens till 2pm in the afternoon and it's not very fancy or large enough to accomodate many members. The cafeterias are open till 5pm after which the food runs out. Library will be open till 9pm. The hostel timings are a bit absurd as they are forced to be inside by 6pm.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from the 5th semester. The university also conducts placement drives and skill development workshops. Out of the various companies, some of the reputed ones include Goldman Sachs, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, De Shaw, etc. The average package is around 7 to 8 lakhs but 60% students opt out from placements for further education. I plan to study a master's degree in business economics after my undergraduate studies.

Placement Experience:

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists
