Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is quite modern and centered on topics that are relevant and not some 30 year old syllabus. The curriculum covers the basics of physics and maths, as my degree is in BSc in Physics and Mathematics. This prepares you for iitjam and other higher study exams and institutions like tifr and iisc. The problems are the lack of more practical experiences. The practicals happen once every week where we are supposed to complete an experiment in 3 hours. They should rather keep 1 hour of lab every 2 days so that the student can actually remember what he or she actually did. The exam timings are semester wise ie every 4 to 6 months you will have a end semester exams and between them are the midsem exams. Other activities make up for 20 and the midsems for 20 while the other 60 comes from the end sem exams, giving you a score out of 100.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college itself does not offer internships, atleast in my course rather you need to fetch it yourself on platforms such as internshala Some of my friends were able to get internships of upto 15k of stipend every month, being based on their efforts and talking skills.

Fees and Financial Aid

The moment my admission was accepted i had to pay 70k, which is the annual fees which includes 50k as admission fees and tution fees and 10k as non Kannada fees(only if you are not a domicile of karnataka, and is a one time fees) and a language fees of 10k( only for foreign languages such as English and french) You can avail the government scholarships based on the sc/st criteria or the merit criterion. You also get the mid day meal scholarship if you are eligible for it

Campus Life

4

Sports and other infrastructure is good but limited. The library is quite good and well equipped to handle the student mass and population that wants books for exams. There are a number of fests that happen, the most important for me being the exubria and the freshers party or fest. Both are very enjoyable and happen in the August to September months. There are many clubs and student associations such as the physics student association or the maths association, they offer a knowledge based podium for people to talk. Many scientists and Mathematicains come for lectures on real life expectations and experiences

Hostel Facilities

4

I have experience of living in both a PG and in the hostel, Hostel: Honestly its quite good, they charge approximately 70k for 10 months. The food includes coffee every morning along with breakfast, lunch is montly south indian and dinner includes a type of non veg dish from chicken and egg to fish and beef. You need to get your own mattress, bucket mug and other things that you deem necessary. The clothes washing area has stones to wash your clothes. 2 washing machines are also provided which are pay to use, 70 rs for 40 minutes of normal wash. The registration is online and you need to take a printout of forms, fill it and give it to the hostel director, the decision solely rests on him to admit you to the hostel. Pg is rather better as the food is almost the same just the non veg is only chicken and egg once a week and more variety of food, this costed me 10k per month. The locality is of working professionals and is quite hostel like in a way.

Admission

The admission process involves the application form, application fees and if you clear the eligibility criteria, you give an interview and if you are good enough you are selected. I want to join the Indian Foreign Service and just want a degree in a stream which i can understand so this college is quite good for me and my overall development as a human.

Faculty

4

The faculties in general are friendly but they too are human and can make mistakes. The ones I like are Sushoban sir Deepa maam John sir Bruno maam Raja sir Rabbi sir Litty maam Laura maam Rickie sir They are very much friendly and help you when you need it most. They are also very reachable, you can text them and call them at descent hours of the day. The ones I dont like are Champa maam Deepika maam Rock sir Beena maam They literally check notebooks, i mean come on. They even behave like some royalties of England. As if we are not humans and can't make mistakes. Overall its life and you need to handle it

Night Life

4

The city of bangalore is known for its night life. But sadly, the hostel has timing restrictions as early as 6pm from the evening, making it a very abnormal time for students to be back in the college campus and be in the hostel before 9:30pm. Cafeteria and canteens close at 5 to 5:30pm. While the library is open till 8. I would recommend students to live in pgs and accommodation around the college and not in the hostel as it is very restricting.

Now the syllabus has changed. New emerging technologies trends and subjects are introduced in new curriculum. Data science, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security are now taught. Practical marks are reduced to 50 marks. Term end examinations are conducted twice in a year. Exams are not that difficult. Usually previous year questions appear in the exams.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from the 5th semester. The university also conducts placement drives and skill development workshops. Out of the various companies, some of the reputed ones include Goldman Sachs, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, De Shaw, etc. The average package is around 7 to 8 lakhs but 60% students opt out from placements for further education. I plan to study a master's degree in business economics after my undergraduate studies.

Placement Experience:

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists
