Remarks
The campus is very well maintained and is appreciated by all. The hostel facilities are also quite satisfactory but the college needs to work on its mess facilities and canteen. Also there is restrictions for students to leave the campus. They can leave only once in a week and that too on prior approval from the warden. This rule is a bit too much for a PG course and it is a huge drawback. Also the college needs to work on placement of its student as the number of core companies visiting are quite less and hence student gets placed in companies where they would not prefer to work.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite intense. A wide range of areas have been covered in the designed curriculum and also it is updated periodically to match with the industry's requirements. The curriculum is maintained at par with the premiere institutions of the country. The exam structure is quite uniform. There is a Mid term examination and an End term examination for each trimester. The exams are just a small part of the evaluation process, there are other projects and activities which add to the evaluation over exams.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities are bought in by a seperate department in the campus, referred to as the Corporate and Industrial Relations. This department takes care of the placement for the entire University and it does bring in quite a few core companies into the campus but the student intake into such core companies are limited. Most of the companies visiting to recruit MBA students are in the field of Sales & Marketing. My internship opportunity was provided to me by the college through the Placement committee team (Group of students who act as Single point of Contact between CIR and students). The internships obtained through college rarely have stipends and are not that great. It is better to look for an internship opportunity by yourself . Most internship opportunities are good enough for sales aspirants but for others the opportunity is limited.
College Events
The college hosts a number of events like Pragati annual B-fest and many inter college fests to give the students an opportunity to host events at the same time learn about crisis management. There is a event management team which is formed in first year "FestCom" which organised all the events within the MBA fraternity.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is a bit on the expensive side when compared to other colleges in the same level. The college charges 12 lakhs as fee for the 2018-20 batch, this tends to change every year. But considering the return on investment factor, there exist a huge difference in the figures.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers various schemes to enhance the capability of proficient students. They also offer loan service from bank of Baroda to students who require a personal education loan. The bank has tie up with the college and hence the interest rates would be accordingly managed. I have personally not availed any of these facilities and hence my knowledge in this section is quite limited.
Campus Life
The college houses facilities for all kinds of sports. There is one main ground where football, cricket and athletics are conducted. Then there are badminton, tennis , basketball courts spread across the campus. There is also a state of the art Olympic size swimming pool with a mesmerizing ambience, surrounded by the ghats. Apart from the main ground there are small grounds nearby hostels for the inmates to play in free time. There are opportunities in the university teams for people good at sports where they can represent the college and show their skills.
Hostel Facilities
The MBA course is a residential course and hence all students are expected to be hostel inmates. The hostel facilities are quite good, all PG students are provided with single rooms. The location of the campus is very serene and at the foothills of the western ghats in the middle of a reserved forest. The lush green environment around gives the campus an unmatched ambience. The hostels are clean and well maintained. The toilets and washrooms are shared and not independent. The food served is only vegetarian and hence that causes a lot of inconvenience to few students. The campus is a non veg free campus. Smoking and consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited in the campus and hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has a very strong alumni network and the alumnis are particularly very helpful. They pay visit to the campus for most of the alumni bootcamps organised by the college inorder to guide the students and serve as an opportunity for students to expand networks which would be helpful when one enters the industry.
Admission
For MBA admissions, we were supposed to appear for CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT, etc and on the basis of the scores obtained we were shortlisted for an interview process which was the final round for admission. The interview process consists of two rounds, first being a written examination on a general topic done to assess the candidates language and though process and the second being the personal interview.
