Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am majoring in English Literature and Psychology. Both these subjects have given me a new perspective to look at. I chose this subject simply out of curiosity and I'm happy that I did that. I was able to study this subject in depth and I would be able to apply this knowledge in real life situation as well. According to the new NEP, the semester will be of 1 hour for each subject. My pattern was for the Old NEP, in which we had 100 marks paper for each subject. The difficulty level was moderate and reasonable for all the subjects.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure varies from 6000/- to 8000/- per year. This includes charges for various amenities such as gym, library, sports and cultural activity, N.S.S. and so. The tution fees is around 800, exam fees is around 2000, admission fees around 200, cautions fees 150 and so on. There are scholarships provided for the minorities and for the economically backward categories. The qualification and the details for the same is available in the college website.

Campus Life

4

We have a annual college fest, 'Mosaic', typically conducted during the month of August or September. It's a two day event filled with cultural activities, sports and flea markets. We also have Christmas Ball held during December and Traditional Day during the month of February. There are more than 5000 books in our library. Along with this, there's always the availability of magazines, journals and newspapers such as 'reader's digest', 'the weekly', 'psychology today', 'economic times' and so on. The books in library is always available through an internet forum. All the classrooms have smart board and are associated with good setup. If any problem occurs, the faculty is always in stand by to solve the problem. The college have a basketball court, where practice are held every thrice a week. There's also table tennis in boys and girls common room, respectively. Our college encourages sports by conducting annual sports meet for different sports such as swimming, football, badminton, tennis, volleyball and so on. We have NSS and DLLE club which are active in social help. They regularly conduct seminars on different social uses and also helds blood donation drive every year.

Admission

I had applied for Wilson college as well and I did got admission in Wilson, but unfortunately it was for the combination of Philosophy and English. I wanted my combination to English and Psychology, which I got it, in St. Andrews. The admission process is quite straightforward. There are no eligibility exam. The admission solely depends upon the 12th marks. There are provisions for the minorities, sports category and ST AND SC groups.

Faculty

The faculty is really good in taking suggestions from the students. There's always an open communication between them and us. We have suveys conducted every 4 to 5 months to understand student trends and to inculcate the changes. Due to the new NEP, the pattern for the exams have been changed. Now students have to attempt only 40 marks semester, twice in a year, the rest 60 marks are achieved through internal assessment.

Night Life

4

We have a good gym, that is available for boys and girls at two different timings. The cafeteria also provides a good hangout spot. The food is quite good and the price are reasonable. Outside the college there are eateries, the most famous one being 'Andora'. There's also a tea stall and a fast food franchise just outside the college There is no hostel in the college and campus timing begins at 7 in the morning till 5 in the evening. Famous hangout spot would be the basketball court and the canteen. Outside students would go to Andora or hangout near the tea stall. The area is quite safe near the college as there are many schools surrounding the college hence strict surveillance is always present.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Placement Experience:

The majority of students are ignorant of the college's placement cell, particularly those in the arts department. However, 50% of students from the prior batch of BA third-year students were offered internships in our program. The greatest package offered was up to 17 LPA, while the lowest package offered was 7 LPA. Some companies, such as HDFC and TCS, were present. College placements are not ideal, and only a small number of students opt for them. The vast majority of students opt to continue their studies. The college placements are average in general. My plan is to go for higher education after getting degree.
