Course Curriculum Overview

3

University Examination is conducted every semester with 2 internal examination by the college. We strictly follow course curriculum laid out by Mahatma Gandhi University, with additional classes for subjects relevant to our field. Such add-on are requested by the faculties to the management as required. The focus is on print media even though proper importance is given to other arenas of mass communication too.

Internships Opportunities

4

Media students are supposed to do internship as part of our curriculum and we are free to choose any company of our choice. It is mandatory to do atleast one internship by the end of final semester. We do get recommendations from our faculties and other assistance as well as contacts of our alumnae for opportunities in their companies. We can do as many as internships as possible without compensating on our 75% attendance, and is encouraged to do so.

Placement Experience

4

We have an active placement cell and a rich alumnae in various fields of media organisations as well as freelancers who have made a mark in their world. So we do get the benefits of networks and shout-out by them, very much required for a fresher in the industry. Students can apply for internships as part of the course structure and placements start by the mid of final semester. As we have mass communication along with journalism in our course we do have career options in all fields of mass media, audio and visual like radio, TV, print and broadcast media along with advertisement, Public relations. We also have job fair Udyog, at our campus every year with participation of more than 90 companies and numerous job aspirants, both freshers and experienced alike.

Fees and Financial Aid

Generally our entire course fees is about 120000 for management seat and 100000 for merit admission via Mahatma Gandhi University CAP portal. We do have extra examination fees as instructed by MG University, which approximate around 1000/- per semester. No extra fees are required apart from hostel, mess fee and transportation ( fees required only for day scholars) fees. Hostel and mess fee are paid seperately.

Campus Life

4

Our campus is accredited A by NAAC accreditation system due to our well maintained and adequate facilities, infrastructure, and innovation. We do have a good library and computer lab facilities. Students and staff is provided a secured and well connected WiFi network to which they have access to all while in the campus. Hostel facilities are provided for both males and females, with the males hostel being in the campus and female hostel about 300m outside the campus. Mess facility is provided in the campus for all the hostellers and staff too.Our college is vibrant during multiple fests - Diginto, Daksh, Denovo at the campus and for regional celebrations like Onam. We have about 14 active clubs and opportunities fordifferent sports including an active basketball, volleyball team.

Admission

We have limited options to pursue a post graduation in journalism in Ernakulam district, Kerala. Only 3 colleges provides this masters course and only Dist have the facilities for practical knowledge of the field. The fees structure here is the most affordable among the three and we have all the amenities required for a media student. We do have a cordial relationship with Goodness channel who takes interest in conducting workshop and internships for our students as well as part time jobs along with the course. Overall is the best choice for PG in Journalism at Ernakulam district.

Faculty

5

We do have experienced professionals of each field as faculties for the particular subjects, with years of experience in the field. They make you career oriented in your field of choice. We follow the course structure and examination routine laid out by Mahatma Gandhi University along with add-on subjects taught additionally. These add on courses are recognised by the faculties as required by the course, students and current media organisations. Our faculties do fill the gap between theoretical knowledge needed and the practical experience required by the industry, making you industry ready.

Night Life

1

As common among almost all the colleges in Kerala, we do not have a nightlife in the campus, let alone vibrant. It's not dangerous to roam around the locality but not encouraged too. Library and cafeteria closes by 4:30 in the evening. Strict timings are set for hostels too, though students can opt for private accommodation facilities available nearby. Boys hostel as usual are much more free than girls hostel, which is outside the campus. The famous hangout place would be the airport premises with good food and view of flights take off and landing.

The placement process is very unique in this University. The process starts in the second semester by way of internship. The students are well trained in the various aspects of the interviews and it helps the students to be well equipped to handle job interviews.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In my opinion my course MA History is very very traditional. As a student who learn this could only became a Lecture by the syllabus and curriculum. But the improvement in archealogy related pracrical sessions and multi-subject learning by blending it with more geography and politics could make the course more effective and also job securing.

Companies like Federal Bank, Deloitte mostly offered. Since we had no placements, iam focusing currently on content creation and writing, actively working with online media due to my creative interest.

I got to know more about the rules and regulations, and functionality of my country during the course. the course teaches the structure of Indian democracy, its functions etc. It digs deep into politics of the country making sure that when students graduate they have enough info to face reality with politics for india. we learned about constitutions and structure of many major countries. Exams were conducted not according to the rest of the students for us. we had late exams and hence late results and late graduation. difficulty level of exams if you study well enough you can crack it. its theory based degree

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good. At some points, it needs revision. The subjects feel ancient. The teaching also need to be improved. The typical lecture method is very unhelpful. Instead they should introduce digital learning. Also the course lacks in-hand experience on the subject. Rather than the robotic manual learning there's no activity involved

Course curriculum is great and it helps us to prepare for the real world applications and also for the further academic pursuits.By the materials for the syllabus were most not available so it was so difficult for us to prepare for the exams and also the faculty face it so hard to teach us without proper materials. Also the face difficulty in the question level as we are forced to write the exams without proper materials. Our exams were not properly conducted they have published the exam date all of a sudden eventhough we studied semester wise they conducted exams yearly and 1&2 semester together it had us so hard to prepare for exams. Also our valuation was not properly done so only fews percentage of the students were only passed in the exams. The carelessness of the authorities spoiled life of many students like us.
