Course Curriculum Overview
In the first year, you study all the general subjects - physics, chemistry, maths, mechanics, computer science and so on. It's the second year when your course related studies begin. Internal theory exams(sessionals) are held twice in a semester, both consisting of two units each. Once your second internal exams are over, internal practical exams are held, which kind of mark the end of the semester from the college's perspective. After this, the external practical exams(the end-term exams) are held and the semester officially ends with the end term theory exams. Officially, out of the two sessionals that are held, only the first one is set under the university's curriculum. The second ones are just set by the college, so there is no knowledge of how those marks are added to our internal marks. While the first sessionals are more or less a copy of previous year question papers, the second ones are just unresearched accumulation of questions that do not cover two units rightfully. Although it may seem that these exams were useless, they made you teach how to cope up with things that you don't like and still get your way around it. So, professionally, it has given me the exposure to how the real world works.
Placement Experience
This year, with the change in management, the college saw many companies coming for placement. Even the likes of Amazon came and took around 5 students from the IT and CSE departments. The college also offers in-house training in the vacations after the completion of 2nd year which is later tested in the form of viva and a presentation at the end of the third year.
College Events
Each year our college celebrates its annual fest and a sports meet that indeed brings a lot of laurels to the institution. Otherwise, small society based events are held from time to time that goes unnoticed because they are held at a very small level. Let's also not forget the farewell the Juniors give to the seniors, but you are charged money to be at your own farewell.
Fee Structure And Facilities
My first-year fees were around Rs. 1,15,000. For prior years (the next three years), it came around the figure of Rs. 95,000. Other expenses include - traveling and meals. A one-hour metro ride from Subhash Nagar metro station to Kashmere gate metro station would cost me around Rs. 36, and Rs. 10 (now Rs. 20 most of the times) on auto from the metro station to the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't opt for any scholarship or education loan. The scholarship is only available for students coming from economically weaker sections.
Campus Life
The campus life, honestly, is monotonous. The college goes on on school timings - 8:15 am to 3:10 pm; seven 55 minute long lectures and one half-hour break after the third one. But the only difference is, you can leave any lecture you want, you're not bound to sit and take the class. Since it's an engineering college (mostly), the female to male ratio is enormously less. In my class of 60, there were only 11 girls and I am a computer science student. In streams like mechanical and civil, the number went as low as one. Talking about labs, they are not really in any great condition either. The infrastructure is old, the computer lab doesn't have a functional air conditioner and there is no wifi for students to use. There are various societies for extracurriculars - drama, dance, music, literature, etc., but only a few like dance and music are prominent and have possibly made their name in the DU circuit through competitions.
Alumni/Alumna
No idea about the alumni network. Nobody mentioned it, so we never got to know much about our seniors.
Admission
IPU CET is the entrance exam you have to clear to get into any of the colleges affiliated with GGSIPU (option unavailable in the above question, hence selected No). On the result day, you get a rank that decides which college you would be eligible for (each college has its own demand). My rank was 16,666 so I could avail admission only in colleges that accept rank above 16,666. Hence, I got into ADGITM (formerly NIEC)
Faculty
There is a staff room where the faculty resides (each course had different faculty room). Later on, a Whatsapp group was created with all the students of the class in it and some evident faculty members were added to it, to make student-teacher conversation easier.
