What Students Say
Likes
- Great scope for academics. In our university a very detailed emphasis is given on the students academic curriculum and each student is given through attention to help them get good grades.
- Second and the most important aspect that is greatly helpful is the support for extracurricular activities. We have Youthfests and Sports every year on National levels that is very helpful for the students.
- Good exposure to the theory part of the course with the help of practical classes and field trips. This gives us the benefits of experiencing what we have studied in practical format.
Dislikes
- Marks for attendance. Here we have 5 marks for attendance and if we are absent for more than 6 to 7 classes then our attendance will be 0 and we will not be permitted to attend the exam.
- Absence of placement cell. Even after completion of the course there are no direct placements form the college.
- Better internships. Here we are not exposed to good internships that will help us land a god in the future or give us any exposure to what we have studied.
Course Curriculum Overview
This course os an excellent gateway for the students intrested in persuing biology especially the agricultural field. On this course we have such a curriculum that we have to study all the aspects related to agriculture along with the basics fo computer application, english and statistics during the first year. The curriculum also give emense stress to physical education as we have a compulsory couse of pe during the first years. I suggest that the students who are willing to give a lot of years into studing this course join this field as this course doesn't usually guarantee you a Job once you complete your bachelors but if you have a Masters degree of complete your PHd you will have great opportunity especially in the government sector. This is the major drawback of this course.
Internships Opportunities
The internships from our college were not very good. We were not placed in any major or significant companies that could have given us with a wider prospective of our course oflr helped us land a job after its completion. No new prominent skills were learnt or any exepetional jobs that we could mention in our resume. All the internships upon that were free internships which were utter waste of our talent or abilities. The intership experience was one of the worst for all of us.
Fees and Financial Aid
The entier fee structure for an academic year in the university is divided according to semesters. For all the odd semesters we have to pay the fee amount of Rs 18,000 whereas for the even semesters we have to pay an amount of Rs 21,000. This totally accounts for Rs 40,000 of fees per year. The entier fee structure is as follows for each semester:- Tution fee- Rs 5300; Registration fee - Rs 500; Laboratory fee - Rs 2350; Library fee - 550; Medical fee - Rs 635; Student aid fund- Rs 670; Tour fee - Rs 4685; Examination fee - 2500; Documentation fee - 530 ; Sports fee - 900 and Miscellaneous fee- Rs 3000 The fee structure is same for all the students except Sc and St students have to pay the fee of only Rs 500 each semester. Every year after the completion of our academics a merit list is announced and the top 3 achievers of the academics are paid a scholarship amout of Rs8000; Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively. Overall the fee structure is very affordable for anyone.
Campus Life
The campus life was mediocre neither too good or too worse. The infrastructure of the college was good but could have been better. The playground have to be developed a lot. We have one annual day every year and that was pretty much. There weren't any clubs in the college. But every year in the college we used to have Youthfests and Sports meets which were inter University complitions that gave great happiness to those who participated.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility was really very good. We has new buildings to stay in clean hostel and bathroom. The entier hostel was cleaned everyday and top notch cleanliness was also maintained in the hostel kitchen. We had a room sharing of 4 to 5 people per room. The rooms were big enough to accommodate such people. We also had a tv room, gym room and a study room oin our hostel. The food was also good. For all these facilities we used to pay a fee of Rs 3500 to 4000 per month which was very reasonable, considering the pgs or hostels outside the campus had a rent of Rs 6000 or more per month even for a pretty small rooms .
Admission
Along with this college I had also applied for forestry and veterinary colleges. But unfortunately my rank was not sufficient for me to get into those colleges. Thus I choose this course which was the next best option. The admission process of the college is pretty simple once you have the adequate rank for the college you lock your college. Then on a fixed date set by the college adminstration we have to come to the college and submit our basic details fill forms for college and hostel if opting for the hostel facility and pay a caution money deposit. Later on the college starts and on the first day of college you are supposed to fill the courses for the semester and make the fee deposit for that semester all of this process is completely hassel free as all of this is done in online format.
Faculty
Our college had one of the finest of the teaching professionals. All the lecturers were Phd holders and had atleast 5 or more years of experience in the teaching profession. In our college we had a strength of 45 teachers that though we various courses. The teacher student relationship in the college was remarkable as the teachers were readily eager to help we if we had any problem regarding the course subjects. The exams are semester wise we have one mid term examination and one final examination for each semester. The mid term exams are set by the college faculty itself. The exam papers are a bit difficult to attend and almost none of the teachers give you a full marks for your answers. The correction of answer papers is very strict. Coming to the final examination these are the papers that are set outside the college by the university. Thses papers are relatively easier to attend and the marking scheme is also not that strict.
Night Life
There was no nightlife in the college as the hostel gates close at 6:30pm sharp for girls and we were not allowed inside the hostel or to go out of the hostel after that timings. Even if we had some emergencies prior permission for rhe warden was compulsory.
