Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is very old and must be improved to be on par with the ever expanding new technologies. I took this course, since I have a passion in programming. But there are various subjects which are minimal to no - relevant towards my department, which is IT. Chemistry, Chemistry Lab, Physics, Physics lab, Maths ( even though some parts of maths and physics is needed, it can be joined with the other programming subjects so that only things that are specifically necessary are being teached and both, being a seperate subject is unnecessary ), Engineering Graphics, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical, Civil, Mech Lab, Civil Lab, and all other non-credit subjects ( if there is no credit, why studying ? ). And can include more subjects revolving around various programming languages such as, C++, C#, Kotlin, React, etc.

Campus Life

4

The overall campus life was becoming worse each year till this year, when new management came into effect and overall quality of the college increased all of a sudden. The students, who hated the college ( including me ) suddenly felt love towards the college. Because of the new management, there are tonnes of programs in each special days, like Diwali, Christmas, Onam, Kerala Piravi, New Year, etc. These are like relaxation for students. Even the Induction program ( for new comers ), which is usually a 3-day boring ppt presentation, became a fun student-driven welcomes party, with fun activities, dance, music, etc. The college fest, called Azure is conducted every year on April. The library, is pretty resourceful with various, books necessary for us. And various Journals and publications are also available. Withing the classrooms, the technological provisions are projectors ( but most of them doesn't work ). But the new management is introducing a smart board for each class, and is currently on the installation process ( currently not available for us: 4th years ). Sports day is held every year with various events. Students can participate in items of their choice. Other extra curricular activities include, gym facility, dance club, football, badminton, basketball, etc.

Admission

I only applied to this college. It's near my home, so, in order to reduce travel expenses, I came here. I got admission in govt. quota. For that, we want to write KEAM, which is Kerala's Entrance exam. I was having KEAM rank of almost 39k. I was actually about to apply for C.S batch, but the cutoff was 15k in KEAM for C.S, so I took I.T. For admission, they takes into account, the Physics and Maths marks of 12th.

Faculty

4

Most of the faculty is very supportive of the students, very much loving and caring. Most are like friends, we can talk to them casually, pop some jokes, tease each other, make fun of them, etc. They usually cares us and are concerned about us. They'll help us in any way they can. The best teachers for me are most IT Department teachers, like, Selin Miss, Jintu Miss, Thomas Sir, Naveena Miss ( on break ), Sandhya Miss ( on break ), Soumya Miss, Rajimol Miss, Mini Miss, Jisha Miss, Hari Sir, Renjith Sir, Jyothi Miss, and many others. Also, faculty other than IT department that I like are Nijo Sir ( who is the topmost on the best teacher ranking for most students ), Saju Sir ( Engineering Graphics ), Maria Miss, Christy Miss ( resigned ), Joe A Scaria, Roshan Kuruvilla, Lisa Miss, etc. But, there are a very few of staffs who behaves like a torture machine for the students and is very non supportive. I don't even like to type their names. One such faculty is teaching chemistry, another one is teaching electronics and a few more.

Interview Experience

4

For admission, no GD or written test was there. My admission was through goverment quota. The exam rank they consider for govt. quota is KEAM. I got 39k and got admission to IT department. They also look for the physics and maths marks of 12th standard.

Night Life

3

Gym facility is there with a subscription fee of only 500 per semester ( 6 months), which is very affordable. College food court is there, which is the main canteen and closes in between 5 - 6PM. There is a new cafeteria, which is on a perfect hangout spot and closes almost in time with the college canteen, or after the closing of canteen. Hostelers must be in the hostel before 6PM, I think. During fridays it's 10PM I think. They also have a party like program every friday night in college ( R.I.P dayscholars ). There isn't any famous hangout spots or like that, but there are various spots where we can sit and spend some time relaxing and talking with out mates, like the New Cafeteria, IT & CS Department Courtyard, Canteen's opposite, Basketball Court's sides, etc. The locality is pretty much safe to roam around at night. But there isn't much night life for the dayscholars.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
